Did you use single quotes instead of double quotes?

yes that time also got error

I meant you used single quotes instead of double quotes. Single quotes denote char and double quotes denote strings.

I am having a bit of trouble in ASP.NET 2.0. I am updating an internal site (redesign) to use aspx pages to use the new functionality. In one area of the site, I have forms that can be filled in to request a new user account, request computer support, etc. I have designed these as stand-alone forms that I open in a Modal Dialog. The form validation works fine, I can get data to post to the email page if I use Server.Transfer(url) and get an email. However, that posts information I don't want (session state, etc). I am trying to find a way to post the data back to the parent browser window that opened the dialog and close the dialog when done. Currently, the dialog stays open.

I was looking through code and came across session. However, the examples I found all used a standard popup window. Will session still work with a modal dialog?

I've been playing with a new website this week and have been having fun with the Menu and MenuItem objects. One thing I haven't found yet is a way to change or remove the nasty black triangle that appears whenever an item has a submenu attached. Is there a way to modify at least the color? Or eliminate it completely? Or am I stuck with the ugly little triangle?
Sorry if this seems basic, but I have no Internet access at home anymore, and Help offers no clues.

Hi there,
You might want to see the MenuItem.PopOutImageUrl Property [^], and if you want to get rid of the image you can set either StaticEnableDefaultPopOutImage or DynamicEnableDefaultPopOutImage of the Menu control to false .
|
|
|
|
|
That looks like it just might work, though you'd never guess it from the name or the description. I'll try it tonight after work. Thanks!

hi,
i have adapted some msdn code into my webapplication. a filtered dataview's data is read into a table which is then used as the datagrid's data source. the grid displays the first 10 records but as soon as i press one of the page links i get an error saying that the index was either > pagesize or < 0. i think the pagesize value that the application stores is zero. here is some of my code, please tell me what is awry.
Private Sub btnSearch_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSearch.Click
dvGrid.RowFilter = "category like '" & strSearch & "*' or company like '" & strSearch & "*'"
sqldaComp.Fill(DsComp1)
dgCompany.DataSource = CreateDataSource()
dgCompany.DataBind()
End Sub
Function CreateDataSource()
Dim myDataTable As DataTable = New DataTable("MyDataTable")
Dim myDataColumn As DataColumn
Dim myDataRow As DataRow
' Create new DataColumn, set DataType, ColumnName and add to DataTable.
myDataColumn = New DataColumn
myDataColumn.DataType = System.Type.GetType("System.String")
myDataColumn.ColumnName = "Company"
myDataTable.Columns.Add(myDataColumn)
' Create second column.
myDataColumn = New DataColumn
myDataColumn.DataType = Type.GetType("System.String")
myDataColumn.ColumnName = "Suburb"
myDataTable.Columns.Add(myDataColumn)
' Create third column.
myDataColumn = New DataColumn
myDataColumn.DataType = Type.GetType("System.String")
myDataColumn.ColumnName = "Telephone"
myDataTable.Columns.Add(myDataColumn)
' Create fourth column.
myDataColumn = New DataColumn
myDataColumn.DataType = Type.GetType("System.String")
myDataColumn.ColumnName = "Category"
myDataTable.Columns.Add(myDataColumn)
' Create new DataRow objects and add to DataTable.
Dim i As Integer
For i = 0 To (dvGrid.Count - 1)
myDataRow = myDataTable.NewRow
myDataRow("Company") = dvGrid(i)(0)
myDataRow("Suburb") = dvGrid(i)(1)
myDataRow("Telephone") = dvGrid(i)(2)
myDataRow("Category") = dvGrid(i)(3)
myDataTable.Rows.Add(myDataRow)
Next i
Return myDataTable
End Function
Private Sub dgcompany_PageIndexChanged(ByVal source As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataGridPageChangedEventArgs) Handles dgCompany.PageIndexChanged
dgCompany.CurrentPageIndex = e.NewPageIndex
dgCompany.DataSource = CreateDataSource()
dgCompany.DataBind()
End Sub

If the file is in the app_code folder it should work. Did you miss a namespace somewhere?
|
|
|
|
|
If it doesn't have the same namespace as the project, you need to include it in the declaration.

There are four ways to maintain state in ASP.net.
Querystring (pass values in web address).
Session
Cookies
Cache
For more info check you help file or msdn.

View state is for one page. The original poster was asking for a way pass information from one page to another.
|
|
|
|

OK, don't want to argue But you've been talking about mantaining state... That's not important anyway, for example I use ProfileProvider wherever possible... I just wanted to point there are more state managing mechanisms than 4 mentioned by you. No offense mate!
