If you don't want to draw it yourself, use a picture control. Load the tif from disc into a bitmap object, and pass it over. In VB6 everything was so simple using the Winsock control, now in .Net everyone tells me it's so much simpler, but I disagree. There is so many different ways to do the same thing that a new programmer gets confused very easily, not knowing which way is best. The winsock had simple events that fired allowing you to capture incoming data and connection requests, in .Net you have to use delegates it seems. I haven't looked at it again, too busy but have a look at the TCPClient class and the System.Net.Sockets class. you can't forget something you never knew...
