Hi all,
I have a form that contains one button and one textbox, the textbox will take a number that will be passed to another form. I have done this successfully.
The thing is that I need the second form to create a number of pictureboxes = the number received from the first form.
Any ideas?

If you are dealing with VB.Net the sample approach can give so some insight how to do that. But you should consider defining location, size, back color information for a specific picturebox which you get it from an array. The sample will rename the each picturebox automatically.
<code>
Dim GetNumber as New Int32 = PutHereHowManyYouWant
Dim I as Int32
For I = 1 to GetNumber
Dim NewPicBox as New PictureBox
NewPicBox.Name = "NewPicBox_" + I.toString
NewPicBox.Size = New Size (PWidth(I), PHeight(I))
NewPicBox.Location = New Point (PX(I), PY(I))
NewPicBox.BackColor = color.From.ArgB(P1(I),P2(I),P3(I))
Me.Controls.Add(NewPicBox)
'Here you should create an addhandler and out eventhandler procedure
to control each picture box.
Next
</code>
What a curious mind needs to discover knowledge is noting else than a pin-hole.

Hi,
I had some forms that i have created long time ago...
OK now i have created a special form that have three panels - the caption, footer and content. I want to use this form as a base form for my old forms.
The problem is that the sub-controls of the form will not be visible - i had to manualy asign the controls as child of the content panel (that is - adds the controls to the content panels's Controls collection).
Is there a way to make the designer put all controls of the form on its child controls collection, that is on the content panel controls collection.
Thanks, elaj

Best Freeware Utilities
Unlocker http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker
CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com
Why?: On my 2002 HP XP Home I tried to uninstall Adobe 5 Reader. One .OCX file which was tied to Explorer would not delete. Unlocker usually will unlock the file so you can delete it.
Unable to do so it offered to delete it at the next start up.
After starting up with the file gone I ran CCleaner and it let me remove around 20 entries left by Adobe Reader 5. Now I was able to install the full Acrobat 5 cleanly.
Winaudit http://www.psdu506.demon.co.uk
Why because it is extremely fast. Tells you about your PC and what is going on and shows you error logs.
I have only used it since I got it in MaximumPC magazine disk recently, the URl is a more recent version,
but it has shown me a lot of things which are usually a pain to access.
MicroCenter tech support guy recommended Belarc Advisor, anyone use it?
Now if I can find good explanations for the Event and Error codes, I may be able to keep my PC
running without problems.
Anyone know of a program to compact the registry?
I am also looking for a File Manager to replace Explorer since it keeps ending abruptly, leaves icons for USB drives that have been removed and other weird stuff.
If You could only keep one utility program which would that be?
That would be something to recommend. Thanks.

Are the speakers plugged in? That is plugged into the computer and plugged into a power source?
Is your volumn turned off?
Those would be my best guesses.

If the speakers are all plugged in correctly, you might want to try unplugging them completely from everything and plugging them back in. I have a problem with my speakers where it seems some static builds up and they dont work until I unplug the power adapter and and speaker to computer plug and plug them back in.
Also check for driver updates, it may be that the mouse change is interfering with the speakers.
Check for IRQ conflicts.

I think you are using Windows environment. Assuming the same, this is how Windows OS works.
There is a service called Plug And Play (see services.msc) and you will see this service as running (generally) on computer systems. This is the service which keeps the track of any device plugged in/out from the PC. Either you create a windows service which checks these ports or you hook your application with system service to get the notification about any device added/removed from the system and accordingly execute the next steps.
Let me know if you need any further help on this.

I have Windows XP Home. I have an external Buffalo hard disk partitioned. When I "safely remove" the drives 2 partitions remain in Explorer and Defrag sees them too.
Other than the icons just being there I think they are messing up my being able to get Microsoft Updates even though I have a genuine Windows copy installed on my 2002
Hewelett Packard Pavilion 762n. Any idea on how to fix this? Thanks

Q. Do you copyright your source code?
It bothers me to have to mail my secret source code to a copyright attorney or U.S. copyright office. I'm not comfortable with anyone seeing all my hard work. Who can you trust?
I'm asking because it seems to me very difficult to prove or disprove if my source code is being used, whole or in part, by another program.
A software thief would be smart enough to not copy a Windows App in its entirety because it would look identical to the original.
However, a small DLL copy or clone and rename would probably pass the public eye unnoticably.
I fully understand book copyrighting because the text is public and easily compared to another authors text. Plagiarism much more easily detected and proved or disproved.
But software source code is something hidden from public eye.
There's no way I could know if someone has cut-n-paste my source code into thiers.
On the other hand, I can also understand that copyrighting may be a good 'extra care measure' to protect the 'what if' cases of source code theft.
Q. What is your honest opinion about source code copyrights.
|
|
|
|
|
As far as I know, anything written or produced by an individual is copyrighted in the United States regardless. The officialness of all of that would be Trademarks and Patents and those must be taken care of through official means.
Having said that, I agree that it would be difficult to prove anything along those lines, Im really not sure what to tell you about how to protect everything.

Hi,
I am creating a Windows Installer wherein I have added a "RegisterUser" dialog to the installer interface.
However, I would like this "RegisterUser" dialog only when it is being freshly installed on a machine.
For eg. If I am installing the software on machine A for the first time, then RegisterUser dialog will be displayed on the screen. After that if i uninstall the software from that machine and again re-install the same , then the "RegisterUser" dialog should not be displayed again, since the software was already previously installed on that machine(A)
Please Help!!!.
Thanking you in Advance
Kind Regards
Pratik Shah

I would recommend creating your own custom action. Create a new assembly containing your own user registration form and a class derived from System.Configuration.Install.Installer. Handle the AfterInstall event and display your own form:
// MyInstaller is derived from the class 'Installer'.
MyInstaller() : base()
{
AfterInstall += new InstallEventHandler(AfterInstallEventHandler);
}
private void AfterInstallEventHandler(object sender, InstallEventArgs e)
{
// Show the user registration form.
if (NewUser())
new MyUserRegistrationForm().Show();
}
private bool NewUser()
{
// Determine whether this is a clean install.
}
