First, the amount of description your porvided for your problem created lots of problems for the people who are here to help. Better watch that out in future.
Loop through all rows and columns in a dataset and put them in array.

I am trying to get some detailed information about a user's computer, but I am having trouble finding any info for VB.Net. What I'm trying to find is the Static IP Address, Subnet Mask and Mac Address of a computer. I have pretty much come to the conclusion that this cannot be done with .Net, but with the Win32 API instead. Which would be best?
Also, I found a registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Reinstall that holds info about a pc's hardware. Is this key a standard source for hardware? Or is there a better way to get this info?
Thanks for the help!

Does this registry key exist on your computer:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters
Have a look through this key and it has most of the info you require.
If you can't find this key then:
Search the registry for your IP Address and it will eventually find the info you require.
Have you searched MSDN?
Hope this helps

It can be done in VB.NET. All you need to do is use the classes in the System.Management namespace and the Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration WMI class. Docs on the Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration[^] class.
I think you'll be a bit surprised about how many adapters are really there and that a single adapter can have multiple IP addresses.

I have a project that is an update to a VB6 project. In the old VB6 code files were opened as a number and then when written to it was done like this.
Open strFileName For Output as #55
Print #55, strInputValue My question is whether or not the file was appended to or written over when opened like that? I know how to append to a file currently but I need to make sure I am reproducing the same behavior before I go doing something different with the current new code.

It's opened, but not for append. This will overwrite the data in the file from the first byte. That is, of course, there hasn't been a seek to the end of the file before the first Print statement executes.

I had a momemnt of "AHHHH HAH!" last night after I did some more research and figured out that I shouldnt be calling the routine that writes to the files until Im done calling the part that builds that table that will be written... Sometimes you just have to get out of the office.

I have an html table on a file called forms.asp. I'm have another file called forms1.asp and I'm trying to read in the html table to process the data. How can I access the data from the html table in forms.asp in forms1.asp in vbscript? Or how can I set the html table in forms.asp to become the dataset in forms1.asp?

You can't use it as a dataset because HTML is not a valid dataset. You can try to parse the HTML file and pick out the data you want, but this is really tedious. You'd be better off using an actual DataSet or having the second form query for the data itself.
The answer is pretty generic because the question is generic. There's no specification on what you're trying to do with this.

Thats true, my question was pretty generic and I'm sorry about that. I'm newbie to posting questions. But I understand what you're saying. Thats how I was originally going to do it, but I thought there might be an easier, or different, way to do it... guess not. Thanks for your input!

Hello,
VS 2005
This works but i am wondering is there a better way to do this. I will be having combo boxes, text boxes, buttons and list boxes and labels.
The layout of each tab will be the same. As the user click add task it will add a new tab the controls will be added and some controls will be bounded by tables in a database.
The user will then add some data into some of the text boxes and click save. The contents will be saved to the database.
My code is below and this is just a start. If anyone know of a better more efficient then I will be happy to learn from them.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click<br />
Me.TabControl1.TabPages.Add("Index1", "Task 123")<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click<br />
Dim cboClients As New ComboBox<br />
cboClients.Top = 30<br />
cboClients.Left = 30<br />
AddHandler cboClients.SelectionChangeCommitted, AddressOf ComboBox_selectionChangeCommitted<br />
<br />
cboClients.Parent = Me.TabControl1.TabPages(1) 'Add the combo box the specified tab<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
Private Sub ComboBox_selectionChangeCommitted(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)<br />
'Fill the combo box<br />
End Sub
Many thanks in advance,
Steve

I don't see anything wrong with doing that way. It looks good.

I am having a problem with the application I am working on. I have a tabcontrol with several tabpages. It seems that none of the bound child controls on the tabpages is populated until the parent tabpage is selected. When the user selects a record from an index I query several tables and the child controls on all the tabpages are changed (or should). I have some editing that I want to do based on values of the child controls. However the child controls all have null values until I select their parent page. Is there a way to force the tabcontrol to populate all of it’s bound child controls.

vb.net
URGENT!
i am loading data from an access-database like this:
<br />
dim MyConnection As String = "Provider= Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=MyDatabase.mdb;"<br />
dim connStr As String = "SELECT * FROM table1"<br />
dim odc As OleDbConnection= New OleDbConnection(MyConnection )<br />
dim oda As OleDbDataAdapter= New OleDbDataAdapter(connStr, odc)<br />
dim odb As OleDbCommandBuilder= New OleDbCommandBuilder(oda)<br />
dim dat As DataTable= New DataTable("MyDatatable")<br />
dim bmb As BindingManagerBase<br />
<br />
odc.Open()<br />
oda.Fill(dat)<br />
odc.Close()<br />
<br />
bmb = Me.BindingContext(dat)<br />
datagrid1.DataSource = dat<br />
now i want to use a password-protected database. where do i have to insert the password in the example above? (i know that i shouldn't write the password into my code, but the file doesn't contain critical data. i just want to prevent, that user's messing up the file)
and please, i need a solution for this example, not another way of connecting to the mdb-file, since i don't want to rewrite half of my project.
thanks.

Hello
In your connection string:
dim MyConnection As String = "Provider= Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=MyDatabase.mdb;persist Security Info=False;Jet OLEDB:Database Password=sysadm"
Where sysadm is your password.
Tip: Don´t use that password

as far as the database(sql serve is concerned). u need to export the database file manually to the client end.
framework is the dependency so just add it to ur deployment project.
hope this will help u.
