In asp.net2,
AJAX is not working for dropdownlist_selecteditemIndex event in IE.
It is working fine in Mozilla firefox.

What do you mean by 'AJAX is not working' ??? There is no AJAX built into ASP.NET 2005, by default. Are you using ATLAS, or have you written your own AJAX code ? If your own code, have you written it so it can work with both ( the code is different )

I m using following for dropdownlist:
<asp:UpdatePanel runat="server" ID="YourUpdatePanel">
<ContentTemplate>
Here is code for dropdownlist.....
</ContentTemplate>
</asp:UpdatePanel>

|
|
<asp:UpdatePanel runat="server" ID="YourUpdatePanel">
<ContentTemplate>
Here is code for dropdownlist.....
</ContentTemplate>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
You need to check 'ignore HTML tags' for this to be visible.
OK, so you're using ATLAS. What is happening in IE ? Is your page making it's AJAX call ? Is anything being rendered ?
I don't use ATLAS, so odds are, I can't offer much help.

when i selects item in country dropdownlist.Its giving me javascript error as follows:
'event' is null or not an object.
|
|
|
|

Can we see the code for the whole thing. Dropdown list, update panel and dropdown event code?
|
|
|

SOunds like your code is out of whack somewhere - event in this case is the event object - it's used as a param to event handlers in FF, but not in IE (or the other way round - can never remember!).
Check your handlers...

Just check whether ScriptManager is there on the page, before any AJAX controls.

Yes ScriptManager is there.
It is working for local server.but not working for another server where i put this application.
Any idea....why it is so...

Before U start, please read about Buffer property of the
Response class.
<%response.Buffer=true%>
<html>
<body>
<%
Objects to be rendered first
%>
<%response.Flush%>
Images to be rendered last
</body>
</html>
Hope, this helps u.

You may want to consider including your img tags with an empty src attribute in your initial HTML. You could then include a client script fragment to set the src after the page has loaded. For example:
<html>
<head>
<script language = "javascript" type = "text/javascript">
function LoadImages()
{
document.getElementById('myImage').src = 'http://www.server.com/image.jpg';
}
</script>
</head>
<body onload = "LoadImages(); return true;">
<!-- blah blah HTML -->
<img id = "myImage" src = "" alt = "" />
<!-- blah blah more HTML -->
</body>
</html>
Hope that helps.

If you're sending HTML, and if the mail viewer allows it, then you can render a button and have it call a page. But, most people won't see it, obviously.

Well K,
what you could do is to send the user to one particular
page on your site after that click, and with that you
should pass the information that needs to be updated.
On that page you could retrieve the information sent by the
user and from there you can easily update your database
by a simple SQL query.
Hope this solves your problem

i am doing it for example there is a page leave application , user fills and send it his boos thorugh an email, in email there are links accept and reject. On accept another ASP page opens and it updates the respstvie DB.
as far flow is concern it is oki but i dont want user to see the page.

Ok that means you don't want the boss to view
the new page that opens after he accepts or rejects
an application. Right!
Not even a message page whether his action has updated the
database or not

Yes ,management dont want that they go on any page and change things.
they want a link yes or no, if yes then update DB. we can show them a paage that changes made but they dont want to go on a page and click button there to update. what i am doing now in a test application i am semding a link ,on click it goes to a page where there is a button along with record entry .
my point is is there a way to update directly from email.

Hi K,
I think there can be two possibilities for this
1) Have a stored procedure on the database that will be called on clicking
the button provided in the mail. And since you just need to activate the stored procedure you don't have to send the user to any page or so just pass the database structures properly.
2) The second option is to write a click event handler for the accept or reject link and keep the href blank.
Hopefully this solves your issue
