Hello!
I want to create a vb.net application where I will be able to open and view PDF files. I'm trying to work with AcroPDF.dll provided by Adobe. So far, everything is ok. The only problem is that I want to get rid of ALL menus... I just want to see the viewer... Not the left bookmark menu or the bottom one. How can I do this???
Thank you!

Hmm, you are in the middle of a project and still haven't figured how to connect to MS-Access?
Have a look at these sites Link 1 and Link 2

It's not going to give you the code itself, but it demonstrates the techniques for parsing up the data so you can write you own version that works for your requirements. You're not going to find a "cut and paste" solution.

Hi
Here is the class structure in which i am facing the problem
Class1 : User
Properties: Name, Phone No, City
Class2 : Address
Properties: Street, City
Now i am serializing the User class and also add an object of address class in it to serialize it too.
the error that I'm gettin is regarding double entry of a property (City) in the file.
Is there any method using which i can distinguish between the two properties with same name but from different classes.
I and using SOAP for serialization
Thanks in advance
Parag

You could change the name of one of them. Or you could mark one of them as none serializiable.
Hope that helps.

The problem is that in the XML file, both City properties will have the same exact name. This obviously won't work. So, you have to change the name of one of the City properties in the file, not necessarily in your code. This is easily done if you use the XmlElement attribute on the property definition:
<XmlElement(ElementName = "AddrCity")> _
Public Property City() As String

You could also switch to binary serialization which doesn't have this limitation....
In my experience, SOAP serialization is not very practical. Once you start serializing a realistic number of objects, the size of the output grows very rapidly. You can also tell that Microsoft is moving away from it since it doesn't support generics.

Hi,
Well thanks for all your responses.
But I cant use any of these as the porblem using these are :
1. I dont know which properties it will use and so i cant change the name.
2. Binary cant be used as it wont support if i made any changes for reading/writing from/in the file.
Isn't there any method that can distinguish each into different regions like
<employee>
......... all the properties in employee.......
<\employee>
........ all the properties in address.........
<\address>
.......

Dear all,
I built asp page where the user can access it and enters his info and stored in MS Access database.
My issue: I need an e-mail sent to my Outlook tells me there is a new record stored in the MS Access... could that be possible??
pls Help
Thanx

You can send the email from the ASP page after the record is written to the database. There's tons of examples on how to do this. All you have to do to find them is Google. Results for "send email asp page"[^].

hi all,
how i can specify the ' Adobe PDF Output Folder '
property of the Adobe Pdf Printer driver programmatically.
thanks in advance,

There's nothing in the .NET Framework classes that will do this. Your best source of information on this would be the manufacturer of the PDF Printer your using.

hi all,
i use following two string to connect database located at remote sql server (mean on internet)
sql connection string
SqlConn = "Data Source=xxx.xxx.xx.xx\server;Network Library=DBMSSOCN;Initial Catalog=databaseName;User ID=Databaseuser ; Password=DatabasePassword;"
error:
“An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)”
OLEDB connection string
oledbConn = "provider=SQLOLEDB; "Data Source=xxx.xxx.xx.xx\server;Network Library=DBMSSOCN;Initial Catalog=databaseName;User ID=Databaseuser; Password=DatabasePassword;"
error:
“[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect())]Specified SQL server not found”
I already have done the following steps:
1. Enable the TCP/IP protocol using the Surface Area Configuration Utility
2. the TCP/IP protocol is enabled in the SQL Server Configuration Utility
3. the SQL Server browser is started.
4. SQL Server and SQL Server Browser are exempted by the firewall on the server machine. This is done by putting sqlservr.exe and sqlbrowser.exe as an exception in the windows firewall.
i dont know where i m wrong. Please Help Me
any help will be appriciated. thanks

You put up an SQL Server visible directly to the Internet?? I take it data security wasn't a concern? This is a VERY bad idea, even if you're just playing around with this server. If you're not familiar with how SQL Server's secuirty works, you're leaving a server open for anyone to use for anything they want. You'll come in one day and wonder why you can't talk to your server anymore, or why it has no space available, or...

please show me how the arrays work
i am learning how to code as i am a second year web design student.my language is vb.net.
|
|
|
|
|
One Dimension Array:
Many arrays have only one dimension, such as the number of people of each age. The only requirement to specify an element is the age for which that element holds the count. Therefore, such an array uses only one index. The following example declares a variable to hold a one-dimensional array of age counts for ages 0 through 120.
Ex:
Dim ageCounts(120) As UInteger
Two Dimension Array:
Some arrays have two dimensions, such as the number of offices on each floor of each building on a campus. The specification of an element requires both the building number and the floor, and each element holds the count for that combination of building and floor. Therefore, such an array uses two indexes. The following example declares a variable to hold a two-dimensional array of office counts, for buildings 0 through 40 and floors 0 through 5.
Ex:
Dim officeCounts(40, 5) As Byte
