I am trying to develop a Chat application without using ajax.
Can anybody tell me if i can get data without firing any event on the client side.

You can do it in simple Javascript by requesting status every once in a while,
then if there's a new message, display it
you can also do it in Flash, that is cool too (would also use javascript)

Hello. I have a windows forms application that has some timers. One of these timers has a tick event that raises another thread to continue with the application. I did that because the next operations include listening to a socket, and the UI gets blocked.
The problem is that in some occasions, I need to reactivate the timer, but it is not raised. I think it's because it's called from another thread.
Any way to solve that?
Regards,
Diego F.

Can you please tell me how to use Invoke to enable a timer?

Something like this should work:
timer.Invoke(new MethodInvoker(timer.Start));

Sorry I am changing the question.I have to know the color of image that is displayed in bmp.
Please reply if you know.\
thnx
|
|

The answer doesn't change. If you want to know the single color, then you can grab the top left pixel. If you want to know one of the many colors, it's impossible to work out which one you want, unless you want one at a specific location, or you want the one that occurs the most, or the least, or some rule like that.
My image processing articles show how to look over an entire image, GetPixel is fine for grabbing one value.

My customer want that either the image is blue-ish or not.nothing else
|
|
|
|

What is "blue-ish"? Do you mean something like calculate average color and if its close enough (given some metrics) to blue, it's "blue-ish"?

blue-ish mean in blue color.
I want to know either the given image(not background) is in blue color or not????
example:
suppose there is a bmp file ,in which a cartoon is displayed.
I want to know the color of cartoon.

Well, you can iterate over the image and workout how much blue is in it, compared to red and green, that's easy. How accurate it will be compared to what you'd visually say is blue enough, is another question, but you can break it down into a task that can be processed. Read my articles for how to iterate over an image.

I need to implement drag and drop with some files between a database and the desktop. The problem is that when dragging from the server to the desktop I don't have an actual file to set the data object. I'm looking for something like "delayed rendering" or something else which would allow me to download the file after the user dropped it.

Hi,
I need to reduce the data access time, while displaying data in the drop down list. actually the problem comes when i have more than 10,000 records and i try to bind the data with a drop down list. plz help me out....

How is a drop down list with 10000 items useful ? You can't speed it up, your overall UI design is broken.

Frankly, if you have 10,000 items in a drop down list, your biggest problem is not that it takes time to populate it, but that you force the user to select anything from it.
"Plz" rethink your user interface.

A new software with a variety of cool features has been introduced recently:
- Supports multiple technologies (currently Zwave, especially Insteon, and X10). HomeZIX enables automation features from different technologies working together to achieve broader functionality for your home automation.
- HomeZIX includes everything to compose, compile and run automation logic in C#, VB, the most powerful and popular programming languages. HomeZIX also makes it simple enough so that you don't have to know all about C#, VB programming. With just a few simple lines of code, you can create very sophisticated control automation.
