No, there isn't.

Your only other option is to create one MASSIVE string out of all the strings in your array and use the substring method on that. The problem with this method is that it will use twice as much memory as just searching through the array because not your storing each string in the array a second time in the massive string that you built to avoid using the loop.

You could use something other than an array.

Depending on what you are trying to accomplish you may want to use an ArrayList. It has a Contains Boolean function that will let you know if an item is in the array.

You might also look at the HashTable. It stores items in a Key - Value pair. Great for doing direct retrievals when you know the key.

i want to display the data in the datset using crystalreportviewer. i created a dataset programatically and it contains data.but the problem is i can't view that data in the crystal report viewer.... here i am using oracle database.

i was reading the following key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SAM\SAM
i got the permission error.That i don't have the permission to view this one.
When i right clicked the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SAM\SAM key , there I found that the user don't have the rights to view this key.
The solution that i think is... to put the code(for reading the subkeys )under try-catch block.
Is there any thing like to change the permissions programatically.

Of course it failed. SAM is the Security Accounts Manager. Only the System has permissions read/write anything in that key.

Hi All,

I not bale figure out, how to switch between release mode and debug mode in Visual Studio 2005. It was fairly simple method in Visual studio 2003 to switch between. Just by selecting the option from dropdown list it was possible to achieve the task.
Can any body help me.

It's the same in 2005, if you don't see the option, right click and select the standard menu, it's in there./

If it doesn show in the "Standard" toolbar, you can go to the Tools menu, then Options to get to VS's config options. Find "Projects and Solutions" in the tree on left and click on it. In the right side, look for "Show advanced build configurations" and enable its checkbox.

Hi all...i'm a newbie regarding vb.net....i only learned for few hours...

I wanna ask about performing a a certain command when a key is pressed..

for example

while "y" key is pressed
do ( so and so and so)

when "y" key is not pressed any more
do (x y z)

I need this for my robot project; i'm building a robot that will be controlled with the parallel port....i want to control the robot by pressing certain keys (something like a video game)..i was able to output to the parallel port...and i've learned about the keypress thing, i set the keypresspreview in form1 properties to "true" but forgot to take a note about the other stuff i should do and now i'm lost Frown | :(

The key press event is it, it will fire when the control has focus.

There are also key up and key down events, they may be more useful, from the sound of it.

You should add some code in Keypress Event of Form
to trap key pressed

I want to know wt is the diffrence between Active reports and Crystal reports in vb 6.0 and is active reports are suuported by .net 2.0 framework.

Find out for yourself. Google for "Active Reports"[^] and then go to BusinessObjects[^] and look up Crystal Reports.

Both can be used in your .NET app.

i was make a report using crystal report
and connect it to Oracle Database
the problem is that
the Oracle Adapter ge tthe data correctly
but the report dose not define the arabic language
its appear like this ?????
how i can solve this ?

hi,
i think either font is not installed on your system or you does not change the font of fields(which relete to arabic language).If font is installed on your system, then on report select field which is related to arabic language and then changes its font from properties window.

if you are not sure about the namespace, then the answer is in your question: Microsoft.Win32
but if you are not sure about the registry key, the answer is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

to find this out, just type the command - regedit in the command prompt.

you can also use functions like OpenSubKey(), SetValue(), GetValue() etc... if you require.
