When I checked the sql forum and saw it posted four or five times there, I got the picture. Kind of silly if you ask me.

Not sure what your question is here. In your web project add a new item it is called web user control. Inside that control do your lookup design. Then when you want to include it into a web page you need two lines of code:
First you register the user control, so at the top of the page right below the <@ Page directive you need something similar to this:
<%@ Register TagPrefix="uc1" TagName="LookupControl" Src="~/Controls/LookupDesign.ascx" %>
Then in your code you need to add this:
<uc1:LookupControl ID="_lookupControl" runat="server" />
Don't know if that answered your question or not.

If you have multiple places where you want to have the same control, yes it is a good idea to use a user control. That would be a good solution.

From the solution explorer, navigate to the folder and right click 'Add New Web User Control'.

Your web designer should be able to advise this on. Or if you are a web designer yourself, try using Dreamweaver or Frontpage.

What is meant by Macros and why do we use macros in .net? Is Macros essential in .net? anybody pls explain me abt Macros in detail....
|
|
|
|
|
I guess the reason google didn't help is that I don't believe .NET has support for macros. macros in C++ are a preprocessor definition, ie a hack, inherited from C.

Macros are only one of the extensibility tools provided by Visual Studio .NET, but they are easy to develop quickly, and they have surprising clout. Unlike most other Microsoft products, Visual Studio .NET macros are built out of full .NET code, which means they can use any part of the .NET class library. This allows macros to write XML files, display forms, and even contact remote Web services as part of their work. I have a datagrid.
In the datagrid,I have a CheckBox Column.When I click the checkBox that i need and click the button,the page gets refreshed and all the data that i checked goes off.
Kindly help me where to give the IsPostBack property.
Thanks in Advance.

In the load event, check if the page isPostBack...
|
|
|
|
|
In Page_Load do this:
if (!Page.IsPostBack)<br />
{<br />
}
|
|
|
|
|
I would say most likely you are refreshing you datagrid on pageload. So when you button posts back to the web service the page load event runs and you databind your datagrid with new data. So most likely you need to surround your existing code in your page load with
if Not IsPostBack Then
or
if !IsPostBack
{
So that you only load the datagrid once, not every time the page posts back.
Hope that helps.

Hi,
I'm following the example below in asp.net 1.1 as a simple means for testing a pair of AD credentials:
http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/NET_LDAP_Authentication.asp
This works fine, but it returns false when used with valid passwords that contain non standard characters such as &. Does anyone have any info on the types of character conversion that AD needs for authentication?
Also, is there a simple way that I can make the application secure so that plain text passwords aren't sent over the network?
Thanks

For security, use LDAPS (LDAP over SSL) to encrypt the LDAP communication. This requires that the domain controllers are set up with the appropriate certificates to support LDAPS, however.

Should have 75-80% of everything you could want to know for AD coding in .Net:

In direct answer to your second question:
DirectoryEntry de = new DirectoryEntry();
de.AuthenticationType = AuthenticationTypes.Secure;

I have created a satellite assembly, using the foll. command:
al.exe /t:lib /embed:Resource.ar.resources /culture:ar-SA /out:Resource.ar.resources.dll /keyf:keypair.snk
'Resource.ar.resources' is the resource file which is generated using resgen.exe tool.
'keypair.snk' is the keypair that is generated using sn.exe tool
Here keypair.snk is the keypair tat I generate using sn.exe tool
What is wrong with this..wen I check it in the manifest(using ildasm cmd'…some things missing in it.
When u publish a website then also the satellite assembly is created…this one wrks…and if u compare the one I created with this one then there is 'assembly extern' missing also some other things...
Kindly tell me wot to put in the al.exe command to get the missing part ...
Thanks...

How can I change the position of a Textbox via javascript.
Any help regarding this .
Thankx in advance.

You'd change the style of the textbox in order to move it, by changing it's padding, or floating it, etc.
Basically, you move it using CSS.

Hi forum,
I am looking to create a secure login to my application.
I was wondering if anyone could advise me on the best way of dealing with this
I was considering setting up a users table within my mysql database and let the asp pass the parameters to a stored procedure, but i obviously need to ensure that the data is encrpyted.
So i need to build a DAL somehow....
any help appreciated

A DAL does nothing to prove that data is encrypted, or anything else, really.
Most people worry about super secure logins on pages no-one is every going to try and hack. The main advice I'd give is, write a proc that takes a username and password and returns a bit, do not write a function that returns a password and compare it in memory.
