Hi Nilish
Then you should not get any problem
i think you are validating the userid and password from database Check only once then put both things in Session varaible and check from this varaibles .
What the problem you are facing while retriving is it taking more time ?
i didn't get any mail from your side.
Maine apko mail mail bheja tha but you have not provided any mail id
Thanks and Regards

hi all,
I am developing a web application using asp.net(vb).
I need to handle the custom exceptions.
i have created a custom exception class which inherits the properties of Application Exception.
i need to display a custom error to the end user using that class by catching the exception.
For Example:
i have a function which checks for the input value
if that value is less than the expected value i have to catch it as an exception and displays a user friendly message through my custom exception class .
how to do it???
give me some sample code if Possible.........
thank u all......

Hi Krishsenthilraj,
you can user Enterprise library provided by microsoft.
and second option is to handle and exception and write a logger for it and then redirect to one common page which will display an user friendly error messsage to the user.
In case of any futher help let me know

In our web applications we use a base class for all "normal" pages. This page class checks whether the user has access rigths to this page. If not then the user is redirected to a no permission page.

Hi
On the page load query database to check whether currently logged in user have permission to access the page. If not redirect him to a permission denied page. An alternative would be using HTTP module and checking the incoming request.

Hi Everyone,
I have an issue with clearing out session variables in the StateServer mode. In my application an administrator can logout other users i.e. can end their sessions. I dont know how to achieve this in .NET 2.0
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Nathan Buckley wrote: I have an issue with clearing out session variables in the StateServer mode.
To clear the Session use either of the following:
Session.Abandon();
or
Session.Clear();
The difference between the Session.Abandon() and the Session.Clear() method is that if you call Session.Abandon(), Session_End will be fired (for InProc mode) and in the next request, Session_Start will be fired. Session.Clear( ) just clears the session data without killing it.

For what I know, you can't access Session data of a different session than the session of the current request. Therefore you can't clear an other session from within the "administrator" session.
We solved a similar problem by holding a list of all users that is updated whenever a user makes a request. When the admin kicks a user then we write this info into this list and in the next request of this user he gets kicked and his session is abandoned.
That means on every request it is checked whether the current user has to be kicked.

Hi there,
To anybody out there with knowledge in encryption...
I've made a cookie implementation to encrypt the cookie using a third party DLL which used AES asymetric encryption.my problem is how to decrypt the encrpted cookie if all the keys have been cleared after an event called Login button has been clicked?

hello satips,
tnx for ur reply.but im using the AES symmetric encryption method here.i need the keys to decrypt it.the key however is lost along with the session data.storing the key as cookie is not a nice practice, right?do you have any good idea how to get the key back after it is being cleared by the session?

I have not used that AES Symmetric encryption and Decryption method.
Pls go with Cryptographic method from MSDN.I have used that only for encrypting and decrypting.

Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server
Is just a basic connectivity error meaning the client could not connect to the target SQL Server. So just follow the basic connectivity troubleshooting guidelines on our SQL Protocols blog, see:
SQL Server 2005 Connectivity Issue Troubleshoot - Part I
SQL SERVER 2005[^]
and
SQL Server 2005 Connectivity Issue Troubleshoot - Part II
Part II[^]
This should help you debug the problem.
