both FF and IE consume more physical memory and appear to hammer the CPU harder when doing rendering. As a result opera can display a webpage using less power. IE and FF should be banned as being bad for the environment.

Not really. We have the good old simple Lynx browser to the rescue. You can check out Lynx page here http://lynx.browser.org/[^], which now seems to have a Windows Port too.

This one is a very good suggestion on Opera browser support and it has indeed brought in a good brainstorming threads. For some reason, today whilst browsing the messageboard, I see the 'Start Thread' by John Cardinal is low voted.
I think there should be some 'Vote Misuse Protection' for messages.

I have some suggestions for Code Project Forum.
#1. I think that searching doesn't work properly.
I posted one thread " how to set CSS class to tbody of GridView " in ASP.NET forum. I have tried to search with the following criteria ~

I got "No Result Found". It is just searching in normal ways but not working. I think that it would be really great if we are able to search very well.
#2. Searching post by scores
I think that there are a lot of valuable posts in our forum. I wanna read those posts when I have free time. So, it is better if we can find those posts in easy way..
#3. Searching unanswered post by scores
At the same time, it would be great if we get the list unanswered posted based on scores (demand). We should encourage people to vote the question if it is good and useful.
#3. Mark as resolve
Another thing that I like to request beside unanswered post is "Resolved post/Unresolved post". There should be something (let's call "Mark as resolve") that allows the people to mark the thread as "resolve". Because, there are some threads that have no answer even there are some replies for it.
When we have some time, we can find the solution for those unsolved threads. (otherwise, some people will ask whether our forum is useful anymore or not. )
#4. Add Favorite post
I think that this feature is already requested. I would like to request it again.
#5. Better Text Editor
I think that we should look for better text editor for our forum. (I think that text editor from asp.net forum is nice. ) The most annoy thing with this text editor is that we lost formatting if we wanna post HTML code in message. another thing is that it doesn't keep the scroll position when we click "formatting icons". it is really bad if we are writing long reply.
#6. Memebrs searching
Sometimes, I would like to know how many members in our forum are MVP or admin or etc. it would be good if there is any way to search.
#7. Search Engine friendly
As a software developer, I do googling a lot... Even thought microsoft asp.net forum and other forum shows in search result, I never see our forum (codeproject) in Google. Why is it happening like that? Is our forum not Google friendly?
Is this forum Open Source or codeproject software? Is it allowed people to contribute the code to CodeProject forum? Is there any plan to upgrade from asp to asp.net? (I know that there is no problem with ASP. I just wanna know.) Is there any plan to create very large-scale forum open source project that never goes to Enterprise version (a.k.a: paid version)?

All answer #7 first: The entire site is being rewritten (and is, in fact, currently in beta) in ASP.NET. A massive ground up rewrite that has taken a year and was done in order to finally get over the hurdle of ASP

Any place where we can see this "insane" suggestion list? Just the one's you're willing to consider. If posted someplace public, perhaps the suggestions could be fine tuned. But most importantly, I'm eager (and curious) to see the intended suggestions.
I'm sorry if im asking the obvious or the already answered, Is the beta available (will be available?) for public testing?

If I make it public then
a) everyone will get more ideas and it will inflate x 5
b) some will argue over what should be done first
c) some will complain about how long it's taking for feature X to be completed
d) We ruin the surprises

I just submitted an article and it didn't upload my screen shot. Is the article submission wizard broken?
Also, I went to modify the article (when I noticed my file upload didn't appear to upload) and the data entry page appeared to want to cut off my title and description, so I canceled out of the modify.

The upload was there but the reference to the image in the article was incorrect. I've fixed it, wrapped your code, set your PRE block language correctly, tagged your variables, checked the typre pressure and filled the washer fuid reservoir.
Should be good to go

Was there seriously that much wrong with it?
I created the article body in a text editor, and it displayed just fine (except for the image part evidently).

No, there wasn't much but there were a few things such as the code in the PRE tag being too wide (causing scrolling) and the PRE tags not having Lang attribute (so the colorizer couldn't do it's thing - not that the colorizer is 100% at the moment). Also ensure you enter width/height tags for images - it stops the page resizing with a jerk when the image is actually loaded

PRE tags - I'm working on a 22-inch wide screen monitor, so it's kinda hard to determine what an acceptable width is regarding the code in a PRE tag. I also didn't know about (or forgot about) the language attribute.
Images - perhaps the article submission wizard could automagically determine the width/height of the uploaded image, and include it in the img tag. It may already do this but I deleted the default content of the article and substituted it with my own. Maybe on the content editing screen, there could be a dropdown/button that injected the appropriate markup at the cursor position in the edit field (kind of like the quoting functionality we have now).
In any event, I'll try to do better.

The editor window itself is sized so that if it doesn't scroll there, it won't scroll when viewing an article live.

It does this if you use the image button on the toolbar, and there's also a link next to uploaded images (just above the editor) that you can click to insert an image with all the right fixin's
I'm always after ways to make this easier...
