hi
I have used asp instead of asp.net in my application as per my proj req't.
I have a page that contains processed variables that I'd like to
forward using the response.redirect method. However, because the
response.redirect contains the page within "pagename.asp", I have not
been able to pass the variable. I've tried concatenating it, by doing
respone.redirect ("Http://192.168.10.20/Download.asp?=" & downloadfilename & "id=" & m_id & "from=" & m_usertype &"type=" && "status=" & m_status & ), actually the ip address in the url above is the ip address of another systems ip address. What I should do to include this, or
is there any other way I can pass the variables when I'm using the
response.redirect method?
Regards

The url that you are creating is wrong. The format for supplying values in the query string is:
page.asp?var1=value&var2=value&var3=value
The query string that you have created, looks like this:
page.asp?=valuevar2=valuevar3=value
As you see, there is no way of telling where one value ends and the other begins, and the first value doesn't even have a name. You have to separate each value with the & character.

Hi!
I need to build a website which will play some media files. I know that we can convert audio/video files into .flv files by using FFMpeg. But after googling for a whole day long, i am unable to get any useful article or help.
I want to know how can i use FFMPEG to convert my audio/video files into .flv format and then play them on the site.
I am using .net + C#.
Thanx in advance.

I may be wrong, but AFAIK .flv files = Flash Video file format and need to be linked to or embeddded in a Flash (.swf) file - so you will need Adobe Flash[^], probably the latest version for best results (I understand it's better at compressing the video than earlier versions.) Unfortunately, it's not a cheap bit of software. Perhaps there are other more specific s/w tools that can do this as well, I don't know.

Hi!
I think i was not able to explain my problem fully.
All i want is....
1. Upload any audio/video file to my site.
2. Then this media file will be converted into .flv file.
3. And then it will be played using flash player.
Above 2nd point is creating problems for me. I dont have any idea about convert audio/video files into .flv files. After some googling i came to know that there is a tool called FFMPEG which can do this conversion.
I just wanna know that how can i use FFMPEG to convert my media files into .flv files.

Any ways, thanx for your reply

Thank you for the reply.
Yes, very much similar to this site but i just want to convert any media file to .flv within my code, don't want to take help of any other website because you cannot rely on their uptime.

I have a little Bank application that monitors reports from all its branches. A particular section of the application needs to keep running for a long time and has a META Refresh in its IFRAME. This meta REFRESH was required since the main branch of the bank which has a monitor to see if this application is active.
But I still feel there are inactivity timeouts. I am wondering if Browser/Proxy can disable META Refresh or any other interference or limitation for META Refresh?

And it's browser based?

Yep. It is a web-application.
It is my apprehension whether the following are interfering in some cases:
1) META HTTP REFRESH is either getting disabled/blocked/not heeded by any of the useragents.
2) Any caching effects on the Refreshed page?
Any clues?

Well my best guess at the moment is that you have decided to use a Browser rather than a desktop application where the latter is possibly better suited to your requirements.

Hi everyone,
Please forgive me if this seems like a dumb question. I'm not very familiar with web development so whilst I go trawling the web for answers I thought I put up a quick post to see if anyone out there could help...
Since a member of our team left I've been asked to look at a problem with our Internet Explorer based windows app and I'm not really too sure a) exactly what the problem is and b) how to fix it.
When our app is minimised and an event causes the page to reload the text shrinks so that when the page is restored the text is unreadable. As soon as the page is reloaded the normal text size is restored. In the template for all pages is some script that is called from the body tags' onresize event handler that I think applies:
function SetTextSize()<br />
{<br />
document.styleSheets[0].rules[0].style.fontSize = document.body.offsetWidth/40;<br />
}
I believe this is a way of dynamically resizing the text depending upon the width of the window, however it is though the width of the window becomes very small when minimised, hence the text shrinking. Does anybody know if this is a stadard thing to do? Is there a better way to do it that will maintain the dynamic resizing of text but not shrink the text when the page is minimised?

I've never seen anyone do anything like that before. I'd ditch it. Seems like an obvious way to solve the problem.
Or even just have code so it doesn't go below a certain base level.

Having looked around the web I've seen a couple of examples where it's done. I've looked a little closer at my template and realised why it won't work. There is a body tag 'onresize' event handler that calls the SetTextSize function but that isn't working, presumably because it's not valid html anymore. This should overcome the small font problem because the resize event will be fired when the page is maximised (I think) and so reset the font size. I think a new valid implementation of the resize event should be implemented in the form of:
window.onresize = function;
I have tried this and it won't work for me either. Any guesses? I've included the code for reference.

SetTextSize();<br />
window.navigate('event?IP=PAGELOAD');<br />
}<br />
<br />
function SetTextSize()<br />
{<br />
document.styleSheets[0].rules[0].style.fontSize = document.body.offsetWidth/40;<br />
}<br />
<br />
window.onresize = SetTextSize;<br />
<br />
</script><br />
</head><br />

Christian's suggestion was good - ditch the technique. I'd be very annoyed with a website if it started changing the size of fonts when I resized the browser, and would more than likely never use it again.
Also, I'm not sure if you're aware, but the onload attribute is spelled önload (note the umlaut)

Ok guys, thanks very much for your help. I've taken your advice and I'm going for a font defined by the fixed screen width.
Cheers,
Chris.

HI,
We have an application which was developed in Java for this we provided a web service using .net this web service basically helps in converting documents to pdf format.
Everything works fine however the issue is with anonymous access given to the web service. The client feels it could be a threat and wants us to remove the anonymous access to the web service.
On doing so there is no communication betwwen the application and the web service.
Question: ON removing anonymous access what are the other steps that i should follow at the application level and at the web service level.

Hello,
I am a total noob to VS.NET so please forgive my ignorance...
My environment is: Windows Vista Business, and Microsoft Visual Studio.NET 2005 Professional Edition, with SQL Server Developer Edition 2005 installed (the disc for SQL Server Developer came with the VS.NET 2005 discs).
When I follow the steps below, the process fails:
1. Open VS.NET
2. I click the File menu, click New, and then click Project.
3. I click Visual C# in the Project Types pane.
4. I click ASP.NET Web Application in the Templates pane.
5. I type 'MyASPNET' for the project name (I'm not picky, folks)
6. I click OK.
7. I click the Project menu, and then click Add New Item.
8. In the Templates box, I click SQL Database.
9. In the Name edit box, I type 'MySample.mdf,' and I then click Add.
10. Visual Studio displays the following prompt:
<quote>You are attempting to add a .mdf to an ASP.NET Web Application. For a .mdf to be generally consumable in your web application, it should be placed inside the 'App_Data' folder. Would you like to place the .mdf in the 'App_Data' folder?
This seems like a Good Thing, so I click Yes.
11. Then Visual Studio.NET 2005 displays the following message:
<quote>Connections to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL Server Express 2005 to function properly. Please verify the installation of the component or download from the URL: [omitted]
The only option is to choose OK. So I do so.
And then I am bounced back to the Add New Item box.
I am doing these steps because I want to learn databases etc and I am following tutorials.
I have SQL Sever Developer Edition 2005 installed, shouldn't that be good enough to make adding new .mdf files in VS.NET work? How do I point VS.NET to know that a SQL Server is in fact installed?
Thank you for any help in advance.
Sincerely Yours,
Brian Hart
