The bug then is in your authentication code - logging off should actually log you off, not just navigate away from the page.
You can use cache control headers to suggest to the browser that it should send a request to the server for pages that require authentication, thus placing your app back in control of whether or not to comply with the user's request. And obviously, you need to ask the browser to clear out any cookies or other client-side authentication information when the user logs off.

Sorry if this thread does not belong here. Excuse my noobness.
Anyways, I recently set up a web server on my home network. using IIS 6.0, and a linksys router(i opened port 80, and 23)
the ftp server works fine from outside the network, so does my CS:S server. The web server on the other hand does not work.
There is no actual domain name pointing to the ip addr. I think this may be the problem.
If so does anyone know a work around or can anyone confirm this problem?

If you're set up with IIS, and you don't have a domain, you should be connecting to it via the IP address. If your IP is not static, places like DynDNS can set you up with a URL which they then map to your IP as it changes.
The other possible issue is a firewall blocking IIS.

If you want to use window.print(), that does only print the entire page. So you would have to copy the html code for whatever part you want, create code for a new page from it, put the code in a new window, and print that window.

Hello,
I would like to send the user the file that he would like to download and redirect the to the thank you page.
I have the following in page default.aspx
<br />
a href="/download.aspx?file=test.zip" here /a<br />
the download page does some code processing in the load and I do the following:
string filename = Request.QueryString["file"];
HttpContext.Current.Response.Redirect(filename);
and than i would like to redirect the user to thankyou.aspx, but i can't seem it to work.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks

Do a response.binarywrite to send the file, then you can redirect and the file will pop up as a download ( if you set the mime type correctly )

I can't get it to work, i have the following in the download.aspx load section
string filename = Request.QueryString["file"];
string output = classDBAccess.GetDownload(filename);
if (output == "false")
{
HttpContext.Current.Response.Redirect("Problem.aspx");
}
else
{
string path = Server.MapPath(output);
FileInfo file = new FileInfo(path);
FileStream MyFileStream = new FileStream(path, FileMode.Open);
long FileSize;
FileSize = MyFileStream.Length;
byte[] buffer = new byte[(int)FileSize];
MyFileStream.Read(buffer, 0, (int)MyFileStream.Length);
MyFileStream.Close();
Response.AddHeader("Content-Length", file.Length.ToString());
Response.ContentType = "application/octet-stream";
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" + file.Name);
Response.BinaryWrite(buffer);
Response.Redirect("Thankyou.aspx");
}
Now it only goes to the thankyou page and doesn't download the file. Any clue what i do wrong?
Thanks

Oh, the redirect might kill the write.

Each request only has one response. You can't both send the file and send a redirection page.
Open a new window to get the file, and open the thankyou page in the current window. You can do this with Javascript.

Can ny one Explain what is URL Rewriting & Method for it?

hi
I have used asp instead of asp.net in my application as per my proj req't.
I have a page that contains processed variables that I'd like to
forward using the response.redirect method. However, because the
response.redirect contains the page within "pagename.asp", I have not
been able to pass the variable. I've tried concatenating it, by doing
respone.redirect ("Http://192.168.10.20/Download.asp?=" & downloadfilename & "id=" & m_id & "from=" & m_usertype &"type=" && "status=" & m_status & ), actually the ip address in the url above is the ip address of another systems ip address. What I should do to include this, or
is there any other way I can pass the variables when I'm using the
response.redirect method?

The url that you are creating is wrong. The format for supplying values in the query string is:
page.asp?var1=value&var2=value&var3=value
The query string that you have created, looks like this:
page.asp?=valuevar2=valuevar3=value
As you see, there is no way of telling where one value ends and the other begins, and the first value doesn't even have a name. You have to separate each value with the & character.

Hi!
I need to build a website which will play some media files. I know that we can convert audio/video files into .flv files by using FFMpeg. But after googling for a whole day long, i am unable to get any useful article or help.
I want to know how can i use FFMPEG to convert my audio/video files into .flv format and then play them on the site.
I am using .net + C#.
Thanx in advance.

I may be wrong, but AFAIK .flv files = Flash Video file format and need to be linked to or embeddded in a Flash (.swf) file - so you will need Adobe Flash[^], probably the latest version for best results (I understand it's better at compressing the video than earlier versions.) Unfortunately, it's not a cheap bit of software. Perhaps there are other more specific s/w tools that can do this as well, I don't know.

Hi!
I think i was not able to explain my problem fully.
All i want is....
1. Upload any audio/video file to my site.
2. Then this media file will be converted into .flv file.
3. And then it will be played using flash player.
Above 2nd point is creating problems for me. I dont have any idea about convert audio/video files into .flv files. After some googling i came to know that there is a tool called FFMPEG which can do this conversion.
I just wanna know that how can i use FFMPEG to convert my media files into .flv files.

Any ways, thanx for your reply

Thank you for the reply.
Yes, very much similar to this site but i just want to convert any media file to .flv within my code, don't want to take help of any other website because you cannot rely on their uptime.

I have a little Bank application that monitors reports from all its branches. A particular section of the application needs to keep running for a long time and has a META Refresh in its IFRAME. This meta REFRESH was required since the main branch of the bank which has a monitor to see if this application is active.
But I still feel there are inactivity timeouts. I am wondering if Browser/Proxy can disable META Refresh or any other interference or limitation for META Refresh?
