Hi,
I have been exploring on Visual studio tools for office, we have a latest software on this that is 2005 release that is supported by .NET, to work with this sdk we need to have .NET framework and more to be installed. I have read in some articles from Office Developer 2000 that we can use Visual studio tools for Office using VC++. Pls provide information regarding this like where to find the VSTO using VC++? And also provide any articles where i could be clear with this.
Thankyou,
UK.

Unsurprisingly, if you look on MSDN, you will find links to how to get VSTO, as well as articles on it.

my application is actually a web application where i manually upload CSV file to the database.but i want to automate the process,so i have thought of a second stage to this application i.e through a windows application i would download the CSV file from the NSEIndia.com site automatically and then upload the same to SQLServer on the server.i am facing a problem with upload i.e exporting the data to the database.it would be a great help to me if any one could provide me a solution either in VB.Net code or C# code.

In a project we are exporting data to an excel file and we also have the provision to import data from the excel file.
The problem is that in this case the machine should have excel installed in it..
So the customer should have Microsoft Office and he should install the excel using Office in all the client machines. But it will be difficult for them to install excel in all the clent machines since there are many of them.
So what we want is that, we would like to give them the excel installation also along with the installation of the product so that we can avoid them from the burden of installing the excel in each machine using MSOffice. We are using Excel2000.
We cant use the Excel Viewer since using Excel Viewer we will not be able to save the excel file and in our case after exporting the xls file will be save in a particular folder.

Why not export the data in CSV (comma separated values) format? Unless you absolutely need the formatting Excel provides (I’m assuming your using Excel automation for the export). Excel is perfectly capable of opening those files and machines that don't have Excel can open them with a standard text viewer...Simple sweet and works.
Good luck

There is a way to automate installing office products as part of a group policy but you will need to deal with the licensing for that which I have heard can be a bit of a pain.

Have you checked Office Web Components?
It has some of the capabilities of Excel without the need to install it.
Check it out:

It is pretty straightforward. Not real article material.

Hi
My question:
I have created my custom file format. And i set “Summary information” stream and “Document information” stream to my file. Then in Microsoft Explorer on File Properties/Summary tab shows only Title, Subject, Category, Keywords, Comments, Source, author, Revision Number property. But if i change file extension (for instance) to “.doc” or “.ppt”, File Properties/Summary tab shows all properities such as word count and pages.
How it should be made, so File Properties/Summary tab to show all propeties for my file extensions?

It appears that bit field struture has been removed from .NET compliant languages. I'd like to see some coverage on that topic.

Not sure what you mean. Do you mean bit flags?

Familiar with this C structure?
typedef struct {
int field_1 : 1;
int field_2 : 4;
} MyBitFieldType;
It's quite handy. Not sure it still exists in C++/CLI though.

Interesting. I've never heard of that. Learn something new from CP everyday.

I'm not sure what the c++/cli construct is, but in C# you can do this.
[Flags]
private enum FlagEnum
{
Foo = 0,
Bar = 4,
Baz = 2,
Qux = 1
}
