U can also do it using a stored procedure.
e.g.
CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[USP_GetName]
@i_strSearchName VARCHAR(50)
AS
BEGIN
SELECT NAME FROM USER Where NAME Like @i_strSearchName+'%' END

But for this you need to have a postback of whole page
it is one of the solutions but not efficent way
Thanks and Regards

I think you meant that you need to re arrange/sort the items present in the dropdown list after entering the textbox so that it will show the items starting with same charachter.
For this i think you will have to go for javascript

I would like to buy a laptop and most of it containing the OS is Windows Vista.
Is it possible to install MS.NET2.0 ,MS.NET 1.1,MSSQL 2000/MSSQL2005 etc in Windows Vista Home Premium.
I think the available versions are
Vista Home Premium
Vista Business edition
Which one is better for web/windows application developement using MS.NET.
Be thankful to any advices!!

The main difference is, given you've asked in the ASP.NET section, you need to make sure theversion you buy has IIS with it.

maintain my first 10 data in the firt page when i click the next page then the first 10 datas r erased... i want to maintain all the datas and save it in the database
|
|

First things First. Save the first page data in the database and move on to the next page. So that your first page data will be maintained in the database. you don't have to maintain in every page that you move on.

wt i need s i should not save first 10 datas iam having 100 pages... my page index is 10 ... if i enter the 10 values then i have to move to next page and enter the next 10 datas.... if i have to change any data in the first page then i have to move to first page is it right....
but my first page datas r getting clear.

1. you can have a temporary table at the database end and save each page data in the temp table before you move on to the next page. Whenever you want to navigate through the saved data, fetch it from the temp table. Once the process is complete, move the data to whcichever table you want and delete the data from the temp table.
(or)
2. You can store the data in a dataset and then save the dataset in a session Object before you move on to the next page. Now, You have the access to the first page data in any page through the session object.

Sounds pretty straightforward and there are a number of controls that will do all of this for you. What have you tried ?

Hi friends,
Can anybody tel what is the use of "runat" property in asp.net
I tried with out using this property but the page is not considering that control.
If we give runat="server", it will run at server. If i want to run at client what i have to give.
If you can explain with example, it will be very useful
Thanks in advance

All the tags marked by runat=server will be processed by ASP.NET.

What do you want to run on client ? Use javascript which works on client side.

Use HTML Controls without runat attribute.
