Create a database by typing in an Enlgish to Tamil dictionary, and then make a database call.
Sorry, that's it, it's a programming language, there's no translation services built in.

Hi.
The form controls are not refreshed sometimes when the form is opened.
Just try closing the form and opening it once again.

1. Please avoid ALLCAPS.
2. Is it really that difficult to parse the string and check the value?
3. A TextBox here is a round peg in a square hole. What you need is a NumericUpDown .

Vikram.

how do I convert from object to control (the same as CType in VB)
private void button_click(object sender, EventArgs e)<br />
{<br />
MessageBox.Show(sender.Text);<br />
}
I think I should convert the sender to a button.
in VB i don't have to it, it converts it automatically...

What about like that?
(Button)sender.Text

True. But I would say a line of check by having a call to .GetType() to prevent falling prey to System.InvalidCastException .

Yeah.. You are right. Thanks.

ummm....
Button button;
if(sender is Button)
{
button = (Button)sender;
}
...granted, "Button" is actually System.Windows.Controls.Button or System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button.....or whatever button is contained in the namespace that you are using.

VB does this because it's rubbish. C# doesn't do this because it's strongly typed, one of the ways that it's NOT rubbish.
The correct way to do this is to use the 'as' keyword to see if the object is indeed a control, but if you're sure it is, just cast it
MessageBox.Show(((Control)sender).Text);
that's what CType does.

Do you have VS 2008 installed? Just open that project in VS 2008. (it will convert to VS 2008 project format) Set the WPFChatter project as a startup... then, run the application.. it will run with no error...

and, if you want to login, run the ChatService.exe. then, run the project.. drag and drop the image.. type your name and click "add" button..

I already did that. If I just run it without creating the Proxy then I'll get the following error after logging in:
The formatter threw an new exception while trying to deserialize the message: There was an error while trying to deserialize parameter http://tempuri.org/:name. The InnerException message was 'There was an error deserializing the object of type System.String. End Element 'name' from namespace 'http://tempuri.org' excepted. Found element 'b:ImageURL' from namespace 'http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/Common'.'. Please see InnerException for more Details.
So, if I just compile the proxy with svcutil, and change the tempuri to localhost, then I'll get another error.... Or an Microsoft error after pressing the login-button +.+ That's why I'm asking =|

You should really post this question on the message board for that article. The author should be able to provide an answer for you.

I'm not very familliar to thrads, so I would really appreciate if someone could help me.
My problem is this: I want to connect to an SQL database (using System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.Open()) and, while this method is working, start a ToolStripProgressBar (by setting its propery Visible to true, it is a Marquee-style progress bar). If I start the progress bar before I connect to the database, nothing seems happens with the progress bar until the connection is already open. I also want the progress bar to stop (by setting Visible to false) when the connection is open.
How would you recomend to do? Thanks /Viktor

Is it taking that long to open the connection?

Good question
It does take a few seconds, so it's not a very important thing to do. But still, I think, it would be a nice thing to do, and don't really think it's a very hard thing to do.
Thanks though
