My pleasure to server.
True be told, your issue played a major role in my REALLY digging into this.
So... Thank you!

Does anyone else have this problem or am I the only one? When scrolling an item collection the text of some of the elements flicker. For instance some elements in a dropdown control. This happens in my WPF applications and also in VS2008 Properties windows (like the elements in the list of the Background property)

Mircea,
Some considerations:
What kind of video card are you running?
How much memory does it have?
Are the video drives up to date?
What is your monitor refresh rate set at in Control Panel? The default is 60 which is not good. Should be at least 72.
Do you have the lastest service pack installed for your versions of the Framework?

The video card is quite powerfull Nvidia QuadroFx 350M with OpenGL support with 256+256MB shared, the drivers are up to date but the refresh is 60Hz and cannot change this for the native resolution as it's the only one available. So that's that.
Anyway I was planning on suggesting WPF for the design of a new desktop application for a client but gradually finding out about all kinds of limitations is slowly making me reconsider the options.
What do you feel about adopting WPF for a business line application at the moment?
Cheers,
Mircea

We are full steam ahead with our huge WPF project at work.
If you are using an LCD, the 60hz is standard, I was back in my monitor mode when I wrote that.
Here is a thought. Combine this problem, with the one you just posted on my article, I'm wondering if these two are somehow releated to an issue/conflict, etc.
I would strongly suggest using WPF on another machine to see if you experiece the same issues.

Search the web for hits about WPF text being blurry when animated. If animations are being applied, that might be the cause.

From what I have seen, it requires .NET 2.0+.

I believe that it requires a minimum of .NET 2, although as you can get a free download of .NET runtimes this shouldn't be an issue.

Hello Gandalf,
Gandalf - The White wrote: What r the minimum Requirements to start with silverlight.
If you are asking about software requirement, I will suggest you to install the following software.
1. VS 2008
2. Silverlight 1.1 Alpha runtime
3. Silverlight 1.1 Alpha SDK
3. Silverlight 1.1 Alpha Tool for VS 2008
4) Microsoft Expression Blend December Preview (optional)
5) ASP.NET 3.5 Extension

I read "Introducing Silverlight 1.1" (shortcut). It's nice. And also, you can read QuickStart tutorial.
Feel free to let us know if you need more help for studying Silverlight 1.1.

Hi Michael,
The reply was informative and to the point.
I m feeling very bad for the framework 1.1 people. The new thing that they have develop should support the previous versions also, something like backward compatible.
The book that u have mention is in form of BOOK or it is E-Book?
If there is a soft copy(e-book) of that book then it would be better.
Thanks dude.

Don't feel bad about that. If we are on the way of Microsoft, we have to speed up...
but I know that technology is going so fast but we, the developers, can't throw away the existing system that we developed with old technology. Yesterday, my manager told me to implement new functionalities to the existing VB6 project. As I've been using VS 2005 and VS 2008 so much lately, VB6 IDE is not my taste but however, I have to do it and I'm writing the VB6 code right now.
I think that this is the nature of software development. Let me tell you one thing that I used to do. I worked for what the company ask me to do. Whenever I have free time, I try to learn as much as I can. I try to participate in CP or Silverlight forum[^].

Sometimes, it's not possible. If you are a developer, you know about that.

You can get both (hard-copy or soft-copy).. The one that I bought is soft-copy and it's pretty cheap.. but UX team will be release Silverlight 2.0 beta next month. So, it is better if you buy Silverlight 2.0 book. You better wait for a while..

XNA Game Studio Express enables hobbyists, academics, and small, independent game developers to easily create video games for Windows and the Xbox 360 console using optimized cross-platform gaming libraries based on .NET. This release is an update of the 1.0 version which contains improved functionality along with new features. This release is supported on Windows Vista. Combined with an active membership in the XNA Creators Club (available from Xbox Live Marketplace), you can also create, debug, and play games on your Xbox 360 console.
If you are interested in XBOX 360 then go for it..
XNA Game Studio Express, which is a product that enables students and hobbyist game programmers to create games using C# that will run on both Windows and their Xbox 360. The XNA Framework is the set of .NET libraries that developers will code against to build their games.

No , I have never use the XNA Framework
But, I have just little info about it. Have you check out the link I have given?
The XNA Framework is for Managed Code Development and runs on the Common Language Runtime(aka CLR) which prevents a programmer from using unmanaged languages (C++) from using the XNA Framework. It supports only C#.
