It was set to 'Last Week'
I'm not sure when that happened, or why i temporarily got to see all the messages but there we have it.
I point the blame on my scroll wheel.

The "Lava Lamp" link on top is spelled wrong, and capitalization is weird.

Chris,
This person's message is not appropriate for the Lounge. What he is saying in Arabic " I wish you were next to me " ^
Under the context of the discussion, lately he has been making a fuss about increasing his posting. He would take on any one who replied to his post in meaningless replies. I was going to post a message for everyone to ignore him when someone post just that. I replied by stating to the OP "they beat me to that". This guy used Arabic to post "I wish you were next to me". I don't know what it means, but I don't think it is appropriate to threaten any one in CP forums.
I think threatening someone in English or any other language does not have any place in CP.

Threatening language should certainly not have any place on CP. Infact, i don't even know why people bother to use it over the internet at all.
Anyway, something is very odd about this guy. They reply to every message, almost without fail, and that is pretty much spam, and needs to be stopped.
I was on a forum a while back where new member where limited to how many times they could post per hour based on their ranking. Although the ranking was dictated by time, moderators could temporarily reinstate the posting limit, it worked out OK, there wasn't much spam because peole saved their posts for the good replies. Might be a little harsh though.
Then again, if the limit where only applied in the Lounge...

Chris,
First I marked it as Abuse, then I wrote the message. Didn't you get the abuse marked message?

Once a message is marked with enough 'Abuse' votes it will simply be removed from site. I don't intervene directly.

How many clicks of the Abuse button from the CP members is enough?

The last time we tried flushing all of an idiot's posts off the board via mass abuse reporting of every thing he posted you were less than amused.

about a year(????) ago some idiot was posting garbage of some sort to the soapbox. A few minutes later it'd get abused off, and he'd immediately repost it only to have the same thing happen again, and again, and again, and again.

Either this is broken or the delete threshhold's really high. Despite being slammed it doesn't appear that any of his messages are actually being deleted.
And on the univoter defense front, the check for vote spamming appears to be missing for the abuse link (haven't tried spam).

At least in the most recent thread he drooled over all the message removeds were him replying to a post of someone elses that was deleted but his messages were still visible here as of an hour ago.

This makes no sense. Saying to someone, "I wish you were next to me", is as far from threatening as you can get. Perhaps you meant something completely different.

Maybe Dear, but I think something was lost in translation, not that I've ever seen that happen before here.

well, let me explain then
1. You need to look into the discussion to understand what led to this. Just only a single post does not give the full picture.
2. The guy changed a language from English to Arabic. What was the reason for changing the language? Why didn't he use his Broken English. He was not trying to convey a message that he could not convey in English. He tried to hide behind a different language. Good thing I knew that language.
3. There is a cultural element to the post. I have lived in many countries. Each culture has its own way of showing anger, violence, love and hate. what is acceptable in one culture it is completely different in another.
4. I pointed few of his garbage posting and was trying to inform CP users not to waste their time responding to this guy. Someone beat me with similar posting, and I seconded that. His reply was, don't go after me or else "I wish you were in front of me" (meaning what? why does he wishes I was in front of him. In the culture and context he is talking means harming someone.) If this is not threatening, then what is? Would you tolerate one user going after another by using smear tactics (through words)?
5. Finally, I want to keep CP free from all unwanted venting of one's frustration, hate or idiocy. I don't lower myself to such thing. I have higher standard and refuse to be dragged to such idiocy. That is why I choose to report it, rather than take it to my own hand.
just my 2 cents.

This is almost comical.
Yusuf wrote: ...was trying to inform CP users not to waste their time responding to this guy.
This has been tried for many years. Some folks just can't seem to stay away from pointless arguments and debates. Some posters just thrive on how many "fish" they can catch. This is also known as "feeding the troll."
Yusuf wrote: If this is not threatening, then what is? Would you tolerate one user going after another by using smear tactics (through words)?
Last time I checked, they were just empty words. Seriously, do you actually feel threatened by words over the Internet?

Lots of luck.
Yusuf wrote: I don't lower myself to such thing. I have higher standard and refuse to be dragged to such idiocy.
Good, and neither do I. Why, then, worry about someone else doing it?

I was not threatened at all. I was not in any way in harms way. But I don't want to be a member of any group that tolerates venting of such words through the Internet. That is way I reported it. I don't think CP will tolerate some one venting through a use of words. There are acceptable ranting ( have done may times here in CP) that does not point at any one. What I don't want to see someone venting over others.
I have seen harsher words used here in CP which I don't accept them.

I did not worry about his posting. I just reported it so Chris could take appropriate action if he things it is warranted.
This guy have have expressed in multiple posting he want to accumulate posting get next status (silver). I careless whether he gets it or not. My reporting may not have an effect, but if the trend continues with enough people reporting him, there could be an action taken against him.
If I ignore him and every one ignore him, then his actions will continue and what seems trivial today could easily escalate.

Actually, studies show that just the opposite will happen. When folks desire attention, either bad or good, and they do not get it, they will move on. It's an age-old premise.

The best thing you can do is stop replying once you realise they are trolling. I was guilty of talking to said abuser, and then realised he was a troll - at which point, I stopped playing.

If that's the case, and in arabic culture the statement is a threat you need to make that clear. As translated in American (generalized European?) culture they're not threatening in the least.
