One way is to add a try/catch in every web method and change your method signature to include an error code & error message.

Hi,
I have a website that is data-driven, written in Asp.net and C#. I am having a problem with the following:
I need to be able to upload a .csv OR .xls file, add it to a database (the filename, along with a foreign key indicating which object the file belongs to). I know how to upload this, and store it in the database.
What I DO NOT know how to do, is display the spreadsheet on the website. I found something on Google that shows how to use the spreadsheet as a datasource, and use a datagrid to display it, but I can't figure out how to dynamically specify the spreadsheet to display.
For example, my site is about dogs. The spreadsheet will actually be a specific dog's pedigree. Therefore, when you're on the "Dogs" page, and are looking at a dog (which are displayed one page at a time in a datalist) the user clicks on the "View Pedigree" button, and I want the spreadsheet to become visible for that particular dog. Please click here to see what I am talking about.
I would like to do this in the easiest way possible, and would really appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks so much in advance!!!

I have a hidden asp label on my form and when the label has a property value Visible set to false I can not access the object in javascript using the getElementByID method. When Visible is set to true I can access it fine. What gives and how do I use javascript to store values into hidden fields?
Thanks,
Steve

O.K. I did solve the problem by using the Style Visibility set to Hidden and not the field's Visible set to hidden. Sorry, for the post.
Thanks,
Steve

hello friends
I am getting this error when i tried to test my ipn with the sandbox
I am not sure but think that problem is with the code
HttpWebRequest req = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(this.PostUrl);
req.Method = "POST";
req.ContentLength = this.RequestLength.Length + 21;
req.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded";
byte[] param = HttpContext.Current.Request.BinaryRead(HttpContext.Current.Request.ContentLength);
this.RequestLength = Encoding.ASCII.GetString(param);
this.RequestLength += "&cmd=_notify-validate";
req.ContentLength = this.RequestLength.Length;
please tell me how to solve this
Thanks & Regards

Hi All,
I am developing a web application under ASP.NET 1.1 C# envi.
I have a situation to convert Doc files to PDF when they are getting uploaded into my we application. so the application should convert doc files into PDF internally and display them in a web browser. Also should be able to add text like some free text on every page into PDF file.
I have been trying to find a solution for more than 2 weeks and am failed. i found few forums in this site but couldnt read them because they r too old.
Can any one suggest any third party source SDK to use in .NEt environment?
Your help is very much appreciated. Desperately waiting for any help.
Thanks
Renu

It would help if you posted some code, so we could see where your problem is.

If it was made invisible in the server side code, you cant with javascript, but if it was made invisible with javascript or defaulted that way in the html i belive you can with either
document.getElementById("controlName").style.display ="block";(makes visible) or document.getElementById("controlName").style.display ="none";(makes invisible. on some controls there is actually a visible property that can be set to true or false, but i dont think thats supported by all browsers. style.display seems to be the most compatible way to do it.

Hi, I am new to programming. I am Using Visual Web Developer 2005. After i exported the Internal Search Engine, SearchDotNetXml file, it says after conversion
SearchDotnetXML.vbproj:(Error List)
Conversion Issues - SearchDotnetXML.vbproj:(Error List):
ERROR: The following files were not migrated because they were not found in the project file or the associated 'BuildAction' is set to 'None'. You may need to exclude these files from the project after the conversion process in order to compile your web site: File List == sites\post.aspx.
So what do i have to do with post.aspx page?
and it says the Build action is set to None. If i have to change please giude me how do i do it?
Looking forward for your replies
