I wish to capture some live video and preview, but PlayVideoCap example that i downloaded from Windows SDK, (DirectX) just doesn't do the job. It compiles and there is no error messages. video preview show black screen,although avi frame capturing works fine.. and video capture with VideoCap works. I wish to capture from the Capture Card as well and currently using a surveillance camera.
I am beginner in video programming C++. What possibilities of mistakes there may be? Any advice please! Any other sample codes??
Cheers,
kel
any help will be appreciated.

How do I pass parameter to member function from main()
class test
{
public:
typedef enum
{ FileModeText,
FileModeBinary
}FileMode;
void func(FileMode);
};
int main(int argc, char* argv[])
{
test tst;
tst.func(..)/*how do I pass here fo type enum.I would like to pass FileModeText as parameter*/
return 0;
}

Somethign like:
test::FileMode fMode = test::FileModeTest;<br />
tst.func( fMode );
should work. What exactly is the problem, compiler error, you're getting?

Hi, Thanks for your quick answer. I tried same. Now I tried with your solution. Still it is not working.I am getting following error:
error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: void __thiscall test::func(enum test::FileMode)" (?func@test@@QAEXW4FileMode@1@@Z)
Debug/single.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals

There is no definition of test::func in posted code (there is only its declaration). Did you forget it?

This is telling you that the Linker can't find the implementation of test::func( test::FileMode ); the function you're trying to call. T
he simple cause of this might be that you haven't actually written it yet, more complex possible causes include that it exists somewhere the linker can't find it or the linkers incremental stupidity counter has wrapped around its 16bit vlaue limit and you just need to give it a good kicking and make it try again.

No macro that I know of but Google up "doxygen" and you will soon be able to do what you require.

Did you read posting guidelines?
For instance:
-You should choose a meaningful title for your post.
-You should first try Googling for the answer [^].

Check out this wikipedia link: Comparison of instant messaging clients[^]. There are a number of open source applications in the list. You may want to pick up one, study how it is done and then start doing yours. But trust me, this would actually be more difficult than you think it could be. Good luck with the development.
PS: As CPallini pointed out, please give your post a meaningful title, something else other than "Help" or "Urgent pls".

Correct. Anyway: "plz plz more drugz urgent plz plz" is allowed.

Hi,
I want to communicate multiple serial ports using my application.
I can able to do for a single port.
can anybody have the info for mutiple ports please share it.
Regards,

What's the problem ? If you can do it for one port, just "reuse" the same code. E.g. the best is to put all the code in one specific class (you can find some of them on codeproject). Then you just reuse the class twice: one for port 1 and one for port 2.

Thaks for the reply.
If i want to communciate with 10 ports, then i need to create 10 threads??
I want to communcate parallely.
All of them have only one receive function?

Depends on how you are reading the data but it makes sense yes. Alternatively you could also use overlapped IO but it is a bit more complicated to do. In overlapped IO, you have an event for each port that gets notified when data comes in. Then you could wait for 10 events at the same time in one thread.
But both solutions are fine and it depends also what you need to achieve...

depends on your protocol... RS485 allows multiple drop points, you have only one port to read each drop point is addressed.
RS232 you would need a way to read each port seperately so 10 threads might be the answer.
