There are lots of useful reasons to allow image posts:
- Diagrams and/or sketches to describe an idea or problem.
- If you have some form of visual defect in your program, it is much easier to show a picture of the problem than to write endless posts just describing it.
I am sure that there would be a way to limit the file size to something reasonable. Perhaps there could be other limitations as well, images can only be posted by the person who started the thread.
Content of images could be a problem to those who abuse the forums. Perhaps images should be blocked by default until they are approved by a moderator? And once a person has been approved once or twice, in the future their images are no longer blocked by default?

They don't even take the time to type it out properly. This is all you get from them - "Plz hlp. It is not working".
Now, I'll expect them to draw diagrams and sketches to describe their problem!
At least on the programming forums, I don't see any need for this feature.

And if their instructor gave them a flowchart graphic, it will immediately be posted here!
And here's another scary thought - what if people started putting images of cute kittens and puppies in their sigs?
I think we're going to need a "don't show me any images" option for the forums.

I agree it would be convenient. Maybe it could be limited to the Lounge and to this forum (sometimes it's necessary to show a screenshot of some problem). I don't see a need for this in any of the programming forums. To reduce abuse, maybe limit the number of images per day for each member.
Overall, probably a good idea, with some restrictions.

You could always host your image on specialized website (like imageshack) and post the link in your message. In general, there's no need for an image (and as already said, lazy people will post a screenshot of their code). If it is really required, then a hosting site is an appropriate solution I think.

The current CP editor features drive me insane most of the time. Posting images would be an easy way to escape such insanity
There should be an ignore html tags tag so I can put whatever I want within a pre tag and not have to worry about the content getting mangled.

I am going to attempt to reproduce the error on this thread.
When topic is posted with ignore HTML tags, and it is modified, the modified HTML tag is plain as well
Okay...it does not appear to have presented itself in this thread.
Take a look at this one:

Saw this on another forum - could we have a list of recent visitors on one's profile page? It'd be interesting to see who's spying on whom

Is your paranoia getting the better of you?
I use phog and often look at a posters bio when replying, this could be difficult to implement.

Nothing wrong with a healthy dose of paranoia:
Remember, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't all out to get you

That's no over-sized inflatable beach ball, that's your new wife.

I'll tell her that. And then you'll be in trouble. (Which will be a pleasant change from me being constantly in trouble )

Paranoia
Sometimes everyone is out to get you
Sometimes no one is out to get you
Sometimes you annoy people enough they they go after you just to make you shut up
Today's lesson is brought to you by the word "niggardly". Remember kids, don't attribute to racism what can be explained by Scandinavian language roots.

Hi,
I'm a longtime member and today I was vieweing an article about Sharepoint. I logged in to download code and later accidentally went back to the login page. It didn't like that and whenever I try to navigate to an aricle I see this message:
Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.. Ticket: 183425
It will do this fr every article but the Ticket is different.
HELP!!

Just about to report this same issue - navigating to an article from a link on the search results page gives
"Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.. Ticket: 206135"
Ticket number varies...

How many developers are using the CLR integration with SQL Server. You can word it better but I am curious.
The expression I was looking for:

Would it be possible to add a custom sorting feature to these pages. I am interested in sorting my bookmarks by whether they were publicly recommended or not.
Other sorting criteria that may be useful:

Alphabetical
Categorical (Already done with current system)
Alphabetical by Author

- Can the preview window please be shown right in the middle of the screen (I see it has moved to the center horizontally, but it has to move vertically down and to the center of the screen). That would be nice.
- I cannot do an in-place edit in the preview window, so it would be nice if I can close it by clicking anywhere inside it.

(1) would be nice, (2) would be incredibly annoying if you're trying to resize it and miss.

How about limiting the number of threads a user can start in one day, if that user was named 'Ilíon'? I mean c'mon, 13 threads started in 24 hours? And all of them are crap, as are grayed by the other members...
Or this might be based on ranking. Ie:
bronze - 3 threads allowed per day
silver - 5
gold - 10
platinum - unlimited
Thanks.

I suggest that you just leave him aside. He's just craving attention by starting inane threads. I also think that he has a severely unstable mind - if nobody replies to him, he adds replies to his own threads (the replies make no sense too).
The best way would be to just ignore him (or may be report his crappy messages and have it removed) and he will have no option but to go away after a while. I can understand your feeling, but trust me, ignoring him is actually the best way.
