An MDB is Access; MDF is for SQL Server (or MSDE). Thanks for the tip!

Hey Roger, I didn't realise it was you. Yeah, there's no reason not to merge databases, I did the same thing, I developed a site with two DBs, saw that my ISP charged extra for the second one, so I just merged them.

They have a bunch of common stuff in them, folders it looks like, each containing a bunch of items like stored procedures, but if there is no overlap I should be able to fix up the code to adjust the name of the DB being referenced to look in the same place for everything. Is there a tool to merge the DBs, or do I just drag and drop stuff?
I just noticed that all the ASPNETDB items start with aspnet_ so it should be easy to keep them separate.

Since you have to pay extra amount per db, it is better to ASPNETDB into CLUB database. There won't be any clash between the two DBs as the objects in the ASPNETDB are prefixed with aspnet_.
The ASPNETDB is basicall used for user and role access management. Therefore change connection string details for aspnetdb to CLUB database in the web.config after merging.

This is interesting; there are no references anywhere to the ASPNETDB in web.config, nor any other file in the solution, yet it works! I also connected to the local SQL Server Express DB with the Management Console and found all the tables from the club database, but none of the data from the ASPNETDB. Maybe I don't need to change anything. How do I do the merge operation?

You mean that you also found tables with prefix 'aspnet_' in CLUB database?. In that case the ASPNETDB is not used for anything by your application.

No, I mean that, using the SQL Server Management Console, I find no tables anywhere named with the aspnet_ prefix. All of the tables from the Club DB are listed, but none from the ASPNETDB. According to the documentation that came with the Club Starter Kit, the ASPNETDB is created automatically when I create a user. That I've done, and it works, so there ought to be some hint of this DB in the Management Console view. I think...
I do see an option in the ASP.Net Configuration Tool to let me select where and how I store user information, but I haven't used that yet; I just used the default for creating the Administrator user.

If there is no references anywhere to the ASPNETDB in web.config, it will be stored in the machine.config file. The machine.config file will be available in the following path C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG.

Thanks!
I'm thinking I should do all the configurations on the live site - adding users and roles and such - and just add the Club DB in the database registration tool for the site. Maybe the ASPNETDB stuff will be taken care of on the hosting service system. If it's all being stored in my local machine.config file, it's a waste of time for me to enter it now, except for testing.
I'm also thinking it's way past my bedtime, and I should continue this tomorrow night. THanks for your help! I'll be back...

No need to write query for each template field.
Just mention the DataSource in the <asp:GridView> tag and define the DataSource seperately..
U can assign the respective column value to each template field using the following method.
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Status">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Label ID="lblStatus" runat="server" Text=<%# Eval("Column name") %> />
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
U can also specify the DataSource in cs file as following if u use datatable/dataset as datasource.
Gridviewname.DataSource= DataTablename/DataSetName;
Gridviewname.DataBind();

I believe there are tools that can create XML that matches, the thing is, a schema matches more than one format, some groups of elements can have a variety of numbers of instances. Also, a schema doesn't really give you enough info to create 100% compliant XML, just a format.

Hi, thanks for looking
Im having a problem with my dataset
I have an Orders table and a details table
I want to save the total of the order in the orders table
My dataset has the same exact structure as my db tables
Orders:
OrderID
Total
Details:
DetailID
OrderID
ProductID
Price
When i try to save (using tableadaptermanager) im having problems
At first, i would get an error saying "The column mapping from SourceColumn 'Total' failed because the DataColumn 'Total' is a computed column.", So i removed the expression column before saving
But now, a 0.00 is being saved in the Total column in the DB
The best solution i see is removing the expression and iterate throug the orders table and recalculate the total manually
Any suggestions?? (Besides doing it manually
Thanks in advance

Part of learning ASP.net is also about having a good understanding of basic web practices (in my opinion) that you can learn at www.w3schools.com but I also use www.asp.net a lot too.

It may be permissions. The account running the application pool may not have permissions to open excel.
BTW, if you are not using a pre-formatted spreadsheet then you don't need to use excel...
I didn't get any requirements for the signature

I have the following coding but when I build it it gives me following error
public static DataFeedEntities2 entities = new DataFeedEntities2();
var type = (from p in entities.Address select p);
this.GridView2.DataSource = type;
this.GridView2.DataBind;
ERROR:-- Only assignment, call, increment, decrement, and new object expressions can be used as a statement

I would remove public static from the code
In Word you can only store 2 bytes. That is why I use Writer.

No it doesn't solve my problem when I remove public static from my code

then change DataBind; in DataBind();

Hi,
I have few controls in table. When I resize the IE these controls are not wrapping.i.e. they will be in single line when I make the IE smaller.
Any idea?
<table id="FilterBar" border="0">
<tr>
<td><select name="_ctl26" id="ddlField" >
<option selected="selected" value="entity_name">Name</option>
<option value="DS_mnem">DS Mnemonic</option>
</select></td>
<td><select name="_ctl26" id="ddlField" >
<option selected="selected" value="entity_name">Name</option>
<option value="DS_mnem">DS Mnemonic</option>
</select></td>
<td><select name="_ctl26" id="ddlField" >
<option selected="selected" value="entity_name">Name</option>
