Hi Hitesh,
Sometimes the time it takes to approve an article can vary depending on what kind of improvements are needed, how long it takes to improve the article, and the length of the list of articles needing to be approved.
I saw you improving your article step by step. We can't tell you how much we appreciate your efforts, not all our authors are as willing as you, and it makes a real difference for the Code Project users trying to learn.
Thank you very much! We can't wait to see your next article!
Thanks,
Sean Ewington

CP Team,
Time and again this pops up for me:
Is your email address OK? Your email address has not been reconfirmed in a long time which means we can't send you forum reply notifications. To make this warning go away please click here to have a confirmation email sent so we can confirm your email address.
I believe, the email confirmation should get triggered only for the following cases right?
(1) New Signup
(2) Email Address Change
(3) Too much delivery failures
(4) Too much traffic to a particular email address from the website.
Not sure if 'has not been reconfirmed in a long time ' case would be useful or just another added extra load for the servers?

When you logon we check to see if (a) you have subscribed to newsletters, and (b) if your email hasn't been confirmed in a long, long time.
Email confirmations occur when you click on a link in the weekly newsletter, or when you change your email and click on the 'confirm my email' link that is then sent to you.
The reason we do this because emails go stale, especially free email services like Hotmail and GMail. Someone may sign up with a free account, subscribe to the newsletters, then let their email account lapse with their email provider. We still send emails to that account because they haven't unsubscribed. Later, someone signs up with the email provide with that name and suddenly they find themselves getting emails from us they haven't asked for.
We don't want to send emails to people who haven't requested it so we have put in place limits on how long an account can go unconfirmed before we stop sending emails to it.
There is no load on the servers for this.

Periodically, CP likes to check that your email address is still live. This is the convenient way to go about this check (I recently had this check).

Last sunday afternoon (GMT), and similar the sunday before, the site refused each and every new message, with not-so-useful messages such as
"items needing attention: was unable to insert your message" or something similar. I don't recall whether it occurred on my first reply or not, so maybe I managed to get some things done, not sure.
Seems like the site entered kind of read-only mode, and needed an admin intervention to kick out of it. As a result several questions remained unanswered.
I do have the impression it may start of with some question, a reply being composed, the question being modified in the mean time, then the reply when composed its posting fails, and makes all later replies fail too.
Could you please look into this, and fix it or advise on what to do.
TIA
PS: seems like I'm not the only one, just found a message from Nish with somewhat similar observations.

The issue was with a database backup leaving the database in a locked condition. I'm talking to the admin team at the hosting centre to see if they can shed some light on this.

What can I make out of this tweet on the cp feed, without a link (to LINQ)?

Could there be a quick check when someone creates a new thread to see if they have already posted the exact same thing before.
eg. This[^] first and then this[^] just a few minutes later.
(Bad example as they are not exactly the same, but you get the picture)
Give or take a couple of z's.
Also could there be a link at the top of the Java forum redirecting people with Javascript questions to the Web Development forum.

If they are identical there is a check in place. I've seen it occasionally when I hit a time out.

See subject.
I have been studiously ignoring the first post for some time, not that I could have answered them anyway.

Gosh I am observant aren't I?
I just suddenly noticed the lack and assumed there was a malfunction.

there is. it is stickylessness. Actually double stickylessness (how to ask, and how to answer). Exists in many forums. Which I have reported earlier to little avail.

Snap.
Maybe a subtle difference in how stickies appear, not just the icon but possibly a different background to make them more noticeable.

I started a new session a minute ago by clicking on the lounge link (from an old C# forum page) and got the custom error page (I didn't note the ticket number). I hit the back button and tried again, reaching the lounge but having all new posts marked read.

We had an error in the code that was causing logons to fail. This would have caused a new session to be created.
This is the problem with session based 'new messages since...' tracking. If you have any ideas on how to make this more robust yet still seamless then I'd love to hear your thoughts.

There seems to be problems with html tags in messages. Sometimes, when you cut/paste, not all of the pointy brackets get converted. Sometimes, the markup for the message itself (like the code tag) is converted to the ampersand markup and it borks up what you intended to show.

Is it possible to vote 1 without leaving explanation again? At least that happened to my latest article[^] (also it seems someone randomly voted messages in the article forum).
In fact, I don't think this requirement of leaving a message for votes 1 and 2 makes much sense anyway (3 becomes new 1), just want to make sure whether it was lifted or someone is gaming the system.

|

Perhaps whoever voted it 1 also renamed the subject line.
Nemanja Trifunovic wrote: 3 becomes new 1
Yeah, 3 is indeed the new 1. But 3 is way better than 1
And I've also observed what I believe to be anonymous fresh accounts people create to vote a 1 because they don't want to risk a retaliation vote by using their regular CP profile to cast the vote.
