Any feature I like and I think is do-able without impacting on the servers goes into the list. All items are then ranked according to a bunch of criteria (time, cost, benefits, fun factor etc) which is then turned into a single rank. Items are then ranked and implemented accordingly. An items rank changes constantly depending on the wind direction so it's never easy to give a definitive queue placement.
For the record, this suggestion is #18/44 in the 'Suggestions' list. There's also the 'cool new functionality' list (18), the 'Important Stuff To Get Done' list (48 items) and the 'Bug list' (no comment on it's size  )

Let me guess:
time - the time it takes to implement it
cost - server load and man power
benefits - the fun it is to implement it
fun factor - fun for whom?
Besides, why not publish this lists on CP and let members vote on the items? For the bug list this might provide even some useful comments (I suppose it should be available only to gold and platinum members because of the sheer size )

I think it would be nice if there was a DirectX option under interests in our settings. That way we could see who likes doing graphics programming etc.

As to the Lounge's CP users group post
If CPians could enter their Long Lat coords, if desired,
It would be a simple matter for other users to find out if many CPians are near them.
It would make for a real interesting search tool as well.

Hey Chris,
I've been talking to a few people here in college who often visit CP and some of them think it'd be a good idea to have a new members forum [perhaps with a link visible on the homepage] so that they can ask sites about the site and about the forums etc. [Many of them said they were godsmacked at the sheer size of the site and that they were afraid to ask simple questions in the lounge]
Regulars could pop in and answer questions about navagation and where to ask questions and so on... obviously it could be open to the usual abuse... asking programming questions on so on, but at least this way we'll know what to expect and the new member can be pointed in the right direction and hopefully there'll be less non-related topics in the lounge.
Just a thought.
