Sup guys.
I'm 99% sure this is impossible but my boss keeps asking me about it so I've been researching but to no avail. I really need to verify whether it's possible or not so here goes: I have a webservice which returns a LOT of data in a list of a complex object. Is it even possible to have the webservice push returns?
For example: The webservice loops all objects and does something awesome with each. When it finishes with each object it adds it to the final list. How possible is it to push the objects to the front one at a time?
Thanks guys.

I don’t know whether it will solve your purpose but think about a reverse way.
Like suppose you have a large dataset to be returned from webservice. Use a thread in your class to fetch data page by page. Ask your webservice to return the first page. After the first page returned raise a event to your UI to represent the data and then ask your web service to fetch the next data page.
However it all depends your requirement.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I understand what you mean and will try to suggest it
Thanks.

I don't think it's possible through webserice.Connecting through webservice is stateless, ie you can not get multiple response from single request.
So why dont you make multiple request to service ie for every object, there is one request. But obiously this is not good approach.

Hi,
I have to validate the control in server side and have to find which control value is wrong. Ex: im passing user name and password. if password is wrong it should find only the password is wrong, (normally it shows Username or Password is wrong).. Please help me..
|
|
|

U should 1st check if UserName exists in DB if no then return error accordingly.
If UserName exists then check for the authenticity of the password for that particular user.
U can write a stored proc to check for these conditions

Normally, most of the sites doesn't say whether any specific (username/ password is wrong. They show one of it wrong, might be for hiding the identity. if some hacker try to login with the credential, s/he would not come to know, what is wrong Username or Password.
But if you want to implement, then you can implement as Tej suggested.

Ya Thank you. I understood the security problem but the requirement is the following :
Tej said checking username and then password, I hope it makes 2 round trip to verify the username and password.
So that i created a array list and added the username and password in it
And concadinated those two values seperated by comma and stored in a string vriable and passed the string to the DB(For avoiding multiple round trip). It works perfectly for the username and password verfication.
But the requirement is to validate multiple text box in server side, When i go for the same approach for this DB doesn't know Which control holds what value and while returning back am facing control mapping problems.
Please do the needful

See, you have to validate the multiple textboxes, So you have to have some mapping between the textboxes and the data in DB. I didn't get without this mapping how are you validating it( Might be I didn't get your requirement fully).
Just have some data in some pair ( like tb1,tb1data) to map the textbox and data and according validate and populate.

Ya i am facing the problem in mapping the control with its value only.
But do you think what am trying to do is good and will it be secure and efficeint.
Because if i do server side validation it makes round trip as well as security problem as u said.
I need some suggestion regarding my requirment and the approach.

Hi All,
I have a web service whose url contains https (https://tserver.perfectcompliance.com/wsdl.xml). When I try to Web Reference this Web Service, the reference is getting added but I am getting following error "this webpage contains content that will not be delivered using a secure https connection".
What is this error how can I avoid getting this warning or error message. I want to use this service in my application and I have to write test methods for that Web application as well. Is there any way to get rid of this problem and connect that web service in my application.
And I am getting following errors
"Unable to automatically step into the server. Connecting to the server machine 'tserver.perfectcompliance.com' failed. Invalid access to memory location." - This error at the time of debugging, when my application calls the web service method, I am getting this error.
This is another error message I am getting - The Internet Connection Firewall on the remote machine is not set up to allow remote debugging. For managed or native remote debugging with the default transport, the TCP 135 port must be opened for DCOM traffic, file and printer sharing must be enabled, and Msvsmon.exe must be added to the exceptions list. Opening some IPSEC ports may be necessary as well.
Please help me by giving the advice that what sort of problem it is. I need some ones help pls give me. I am struck here.
Thanks in advance.

Hope you find your answer!

Hi Keith,
Can you please help me by looking in to those errors above. You can just tell me in one word also what are things that I should have to test my component which is internally calling my web service. Is this problem because of https in the url. Can you please help.
Thanks in advance.

A quick Google search for this yields this[^].It answers how to fix that question.
indian143 wrote: "Unable to automatically step into the server. Connecting to the server machine 'tserver.perfectcompliance.com' failed. Invalid access to memory location." - This error at the time of debugging, when my application calls the web service method, I am getting this error.
Of course you are getting this error, the service is live on the Internet, so the company has naturally secured it. The last thing they want is for some dev (or worse) coming in and playing with/breaking their system. This also is the reason for your final error.
If you navigate to https://tserver.perfectcompliance.com/wsdl.xml[^] you get the full WSDL, so you can generate the proxy. If you are having problems getting the proxy to communicate with the system, it is a much better idea to contact the company who runs the service, they will be able to provide you with full details as they know their setup better than anyone else (Hopefully ).

I have in my site a div with a back-image and position:absolute, a-index:1 style properties.
I do that because I want to have my site's logo always on the front.
When I run it with internet explorer it goes well and the site looks OK, but when I try Firefox browser, the alignment of the website's control looks like it is totally ruined up.
you can see the web page here: http://avangard.more-web.co.il/he/menu/default.aspx[^]
To be sure that the problem is with the logo div, I have deleted it and checked the site and it looked OK.

I tried the link but it didn't work.
One thing a-index:1 should be z-index:1 , I'd check your code if I were you, just in case!

I have been using the charting controls for ASP that are described in this link:
ASP Charting. It works correctly in VS 2008. However, it is not installing in VS 2010, nor is the ASP project running. (The error on installation is "The Toolbox Controls Installer must be installed before running this installer".)
Is this incompatible with 2010? If so, is there an alternative that I am missing (I am still unfamiliar with 2010)..?
Thank you.

Yes, As you already know. It's in-built in .Net 4.0, for .Net 3.5, yes you need to install.

Hi Friends,
I have upload image to server. its stored both database(using conversion) and physical copy of image.
so which one is best for reduced space and security ?
Apart from this technique any new feature is there ?
Please share your valuable knowledge to all.
