That's weird coz this doesn't work for me! The IDE doesn't even recognizes the Application keyword (i.e. there are squigly blue lines underneath the word saying it that 'Application' is not declared)
Does anyone know why this happens?

The VB.Net help file states:
Requirements
Namespace: System.Windows.Forms
I guess thats why it works without any other namespace declarations if you place the code in a form. So needless to say, if you declare Imports System.Windows.Forms it should work fine.

OMG!!!
This is really embarassing. It works now. It didn't work before coz i was testing the code in a class library project ( which doesn't include system.windows.forms). I can't believe I was so blind/stupid!!

I know that services and UI are No-No and Microsoft says that it is not recommended ( But their SQL server service does the same and so a lot of other third party services….Where can I find explanation for this).
I’m trying to display user interface from my VB.Net service. I can run my service under system account and check “allow to interact with desktop”, however my Form hangs. What are my options?
(1) Can I start another UI application from my service have them talk i.e. service can talk to application?
Thank you for helping me with this

I was previously developing an application using vb6 with some third party COMS. Now that I plan to upgrade to vb.net, I find that these COMs no longer works. Is there any way to make them work, short of looking for updated versions of these COMs( some of these third party companies are no longer operational)
Thanx

Hi,
yes you can reuse them, you need to create a COM runtime wrapper for them which can then be used as a proxy to your original COM objects.
Use the "tlbimp.exe" tool which comes with Visual Studio .NET like this,
tlbimp oldcom.dll /out:oldcom.asm.dll
then you add a reference to the oldcom.asm.dll file to your .NET app.

In fact, if you use VS.Net you dont even need to do this manually as by referencing a COM componant VS will notice what you are trying to do and do this for you...

I'm working on a VB.net app which requires drag and drop between a ListView control and a Treeview control. The problem is that the selected node in the treeview control doesn't seem to change when I'm hovering over them with the item dragged.
I can't even seem to make this happen programmatically since I can't find a way to get the tree node that the cursor is hovering over (no e.Node in mouseover event
How can I make this work?
Also, I can't select a nodes by right clicking on them. I need this to display a popup menu specific to each node.
Please please help.

I looked in MSDN and found the member function GetNodeAt(Drawing.Point) of the treeview control.
Sorry to have bugged you people.
Should have looked there first.

Hi,
I don't know if this is the correct forum, but let's try...
I have some componente written in VB.Net that is called by ASP pages.
All of them works fine except for one that gives me the "class doesn't support automation" error message. The only help that I've got was "try to contact the application vendor"...
Running it interactively, I have another error message that I'm trying to work around ("The root transaction wanted to commit, but transaction aborted"), but this is a ContextUtil problem.
All the components have the same imports and inherits clauses and same properties in the packages. Any clue?
Thanks in advance,
Molina.

Does anyone know a way to capture a process? What I need to do is when a link is executed capture the link from the process. If possible, to then stop the process before it is fully executed.
I am running a utility which detects for links to other documents ete..I am using this utility to detect links in a certain program which cannot be found programatically through VBA( believe me i've tried! ). So the only other way I can think of is to execute the link, capture the process hopefully with the link and stop it before it fully executes.
Any ideas????
Kind Regards,
Rhys.

hi,
i am using listview control in vb6.
i want to trap event for double clicking on a listview row or item and then open a form. how do i go about it?
|
|
|
|
|
Hi,
Place the listbox control on your form and give it a name. Then double click the listbox and you will be taken into the code window. At the top of the events window you have 2 drop down boxes; the right hand list is the events list. If you click on this list you will see that below "Click" is "DblClick". You now have the double click event for your list box.
With regards to opening a form there are numerous ways, this simplist being "Form1.Show". You should do a bit of reading of books as there are many ways of doing this depending on your purpose....
Kind Regards,
Rhys.
