I agree with SoMad the guy didn't research it very well. I used 2000 for a long time before finally being forced to go to XP, in the end I'm glad I did!

/shrug. I guess he omitted those as they weren't in the "main line" of Windows. NT and 2000 were supposed to be the non-commercial Windows. Perhaps he only included the versions you could pick up at Best Buy/Radio Shack?
Dang. Thanks for reminding me. I really miss NT/2000 now.

Quote: NT and 2000 were supposed to be the non-commercial Windows I assume you mean "for home use" since NT and 200 were huge in the office and starting the server/desktop split.
Windows ME:
Quote: it added UI enhancements and faster boot times along with better multimedia support. I suggest a new name should be used for Windows 8 - they should call it "Windows ME 2" since they were lying about the meaning of "enhancements" even back then.
- I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.

Right, sorry. That is what I meant about NT/2000 - the "non-home use" versions.

The backlash against Google forcing YouTube commenters to use Google Plus is now too big to ignore. But will Google listen? Do no evil, just be an irritating control (and monitoring) freak

Youtube has over 1 Billion unique users per month
112,000 complain
That's 0.01% of the users
I bet Google are trembling!

Well, like that say, for every person that complains, there are 10 who feel the same way. So, we're up to 0.1%

I don't so much care about the anonymity, but I don't want to be forced sign up for a stupid service I don't want to use just to use another stupid service that I hardly ever use. And that stupid petition would require me to sign up for yet a third stupid service to sign a petition stating that I don't want to join the second one??!! Elephants galore!

I think you're not alone in finding the forced sign up the problem.
However, I think the main problem is YT comments in the first place, and I'd be willing to sign up to something so that they never show up. Of course, a simple bit o' JS works for that right now.

I also don't understand why anyone would bother with those annoying petition websites while creating and managing a Google+ interest group is just a few clicks away.

Aside from the presentation what actually changed? I remember being told to FOAD on the comments unless I converted my existing account to G+ shortly after the latter launched.

I think a few anonymous wankers have their whatever in a bunch as they'll be a little exposed for their behaviour [^]in the future.
And Google gets happy as now they can rave about how many more people have signed up.
I'm not going off on this, but I would like to point out that one of the bigger promoters of G+ at Google used to be at a certain company known in Redmond for occasionally making moderately bad decisions.

I can understand why they're trying to integrate all their services into one account, and why they're trying to combat anonymity, but there are legitimate reasons for not being integrated. What if I wanted to use my personal Google+ account at the same time I use my "Artist" Youtube account? Can't be done, it always pissed me off when I wanted to listen to favourite music videos on my secondary YT acc, but then logging into gmail would log me out of YT and log me in as the YT version of my gmail.
In any case, not that I'm against it, but them fighting anonymity is a lost cause, what's to stop a user from creating a fake G+ profile?

It’s one thing to imagine being in charge of a project. It’s another to find yourself the person responsible for getting everybody on the team to get the work done. Bonus #4: Rum, sodomy, and the lash are no longer good management strategies

Yup.
But no one would pick a Microsoft solution for that .
We could be so much further along in this industry. /sigh

10 years ago having to manage 9000 passwords and needing to regularly change them because of a compromise somewhere wasn't on most people's radar. Federated ID is an improvement on the status quo; the main problem with it is in it's implementation. In most cases sites they only offer FaceBook, Twitter, and maybe Google as OpenID providers. Blogging sites will often let you use an ID from most of the other major blogging services; but I don't think I've ever seen LiveJournal/Blogger/Wordpress login offered anywhere else. The only site I'm aware of that lets you use an arbitrary openID provider is StackExchange.

Nature abhors a vacuum (I never really understood that since the universe is basically all vacuum except for a grain here or there, but I digress), in that fine, if the Microsoft giant is shifting its weight in its slumbering repose, then some little flea will come along and take advantage of the space the giant has vacated, and that flea will grow and eventually bite the giant.
Ugh. My metaphors.

Jumping on the trend of using printers to churn out objects, Microsoft has developed a 3D printing app for Windows 8.1, betting that this will become mainstream. Great news everyone! Now you can print out those 3-D charts in Excel.
