Lately, I have been away from all the article writing communities, and trust me, I have hated every day of it. I am trying to get back into the world, again.
Currently, I am planning on using a static-site generator to build the entire website and perhaps use a version control system to host my content. GitLab seems to be a good candidate for me, although I have been using GitHub for some time, I love the issue trackers and CI features of GitLab. I will try giving GitHub Actions a try sooner too.
My plan is using Hugo — speed and performance of Go — and build a basic static-site for myself. The main purpose of the site would be to help me move away from the WordPress based website I used.
- Tips and tricks
- Articles for new technologies
- Code samples
- My apps and new courses/books
Most of the experience that I have while working with the static-site generator will also be shared. I am currently planning on choosing a good platform for static site hosting. Azure Storage seems a valid candidate, with Alibaba Cloud OSS and Google Cloud Storage as good candidates. I need to take the credits supply into account, being Alibaba Cloud MVP I can get a full year worth of credit supply easily.
I will keep you guys posted on how the process goes and how I get the website published. I will also try and share the housekeeping part of the project to better explain the experience.

It has been a great opportunity for me, to write about .NET Core, but sadly, there were a few problems in the way.
First, when I started out and was almost 50% complete with the book, I had an accident and I broke my fingers, so, yeah, I was unable to write the book. Secondly, as soon as I recovered, Microsoft started shifting a lot of things and migrated .NET Core from project.json, to csproj and so on and so forth.
Now, I feel like I should give up on that book and focus on ebook about basic .NET Core concepts. Also, for those who had hopes, accept my sincere apologies, but I will make sure that I don't let you down with the content that I am going to write now.
I hope this one would be suitable. Also, I will be migrating the project to a new ebook one, so that I can ignore the previous problems, projects etc. And work on the next one.
Thank you, for understanding.

I am currently working on a new ebook, that specifically is a book written for institute courses, such as, "Advanced Computer Programming" etc. I am focusing on .NET Core approach on Linux environments as the default subject matter for this text. Due to a great interest by many indie developers and students I am posting a few of the topics that you can expect to be covered in the text as well as I am requesting you to post any questions that you hold in mind, any topics or computer-related subjects that you might want me to add as a bonus in the book*.
- Introduction to .NET Core and other background related content. Specifies how programming was done previously, and how .NET Core (or .NET) changed it — Hint: managed programming.
- Installation of framework and basics about programming. — requirement is basic understanding of C# language, so a language overview was skipped to teach the framework itself.
- File and data handling — LINQ usage and other examples
- Error management
- Databases — data management required stuff related to files only, not database.
- Networking in .NET Core — will contain TCP Server example that I use.
- ASP.NET Core programming — Vincent is working on a guide for ASP.NET Core, so I won't take his stuff and I will be giving an overview only, but overview will be brief.
- Crypto helpers and encryption/decryption. — contains a sample to program the sha256sum sample.
- Other .NET framework related stuff
- Async/Await programming
- Reflection in .NET
- Open Sourcing projects &mdash the why and where
- Deploying projects
- Building binaries for multiple platforms
This is my idea at the moment and I am working on these topics to compile them into a single standalone book that can be used. I have divided the content of this book, based on the expertise level, into sections. Instructors can use these sections to train their students based on their expertise level. This will also help me focus on the example complexity in each of the sections. I have dedicated a GitHub repository (GitHub - afzaal-ahmad-zeeshan/considering-dotnet-core-on-linux[^]) to this book and the source code samples that I will write for this book, and I will be pushing changes to this repository for readers to use. At the moment however, the repository is useless but I will be in need to help once book goes live. Remember, it will be a free book and I will be in a great need of support from communities to publish and promote the book on their social networks, share it in the college or institute!
Thank you,
Afzaal Ahmad Zeeshan.
* For those who would suggest me content for my book, I will give you a credit by mentioning your name in the book. If you want, I can keep your name private too.

This is not a problem with one single forum, every single forum on the internet has non professional members, the members who think everyone on the forum is a bot, perhaps. Same thing happens on CodeProject QA forums. Everyone has a question like,
- "How to create a database in C#"
- "I need code to fix a bug"
- "Can you fix this?"
- "I want to draw this structure"
- ... many more of same cases.
They just show up, ask a question and expect a PhD thesis to be ready for them, those "gimme code" kind of people are the ones I am talking about.
Gimme-code programmer: I am Jimmy Kode and I am not a programmer. So, Jimmy, try finding yourself a useful field to invest your time in.
