Quote: "Our 2019 survey shows that many IT departments are facing a multitude of disruptive forces when it comes to digital transformation and application development,” said exec Steve Rotter in a statement. “The threat of digital disruption and the need for digital transformation has been a driver of IT strategy for years. Add to that the current uncertain global economic outlook, and it becomes obvious why business leaders are so concerned about agility today.” Eh? Am I just incredibly dense or is that just a word salad?

"said exec Steve Rotter" - that's how execs talk - lots of words, no actionable info.

A new invention uses magnets to record computer data which consume virtually zero energy, solving the dilemma of how to create faster data processing speeds without high energy costs. Magnets. How the frek do they work?
Of course, the article doesn't seem to mention him retrieving the data from the magnet.
Then again, the title says that it was 'Virutally energy-free', not 'virtually'. So maybe it's an adverb appropriately describing the energy use.

- That sounds really great! What does he call it?

Organizations need to optimize application development productivity by empowering professional developers and citizen developers simultaneously. Someone has to fix the ad hoc solutions

WTF is a "citizen developer"?

Amir Golestan of South Carolina is alleged to have tricked an organisation that controls some net addresses into handing them over. Brilliant plan thwarted - stuff 750000 IP addresses into your pants and leave the store.
I'm not sure what the end goal was here - did he think they weren't going to figure it out and shut him down?

A new "demographic inference" tool developed by academics can make predictions based solely on the information in a person's social media profile (i.e. screen name, biography, profile photo, and name). I guess that saves you from reading their profile?

Based on the headline, that could be done with a few lines of code. Further, it can predict age and gender based on nothing at all.

Big deal. Without knowing anything whatsoever about a person, I can predict their gender with 50% accuracy!
From the fact that they have a Twitter account, I can predict whether their IQ is above or below the 50th percentile with almost 100% accuracy!

Age - don't they get that from the birth date field?
Gender - First, I'm really surprised the liberals allowed this to happen, given the three dozen genders are now available to choose from, and second, technologically, this is an impressive accomplishment given the number of semi-offically recognized genders there are available to pick from.

How is this different from a program Asploading?
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
