The term "reopen" implies that you have previously opened the file. Can you not use the same method again?

maybe it will be useful for you to know a little bit more about this:
double val1 = floor( 2.3 + 0.5 );
double val2 = floor( -2.3 + 0.5 );
double val3 = ceil( 2.3 + 0.5 );
double val4 = ceil( -2.3 + 0.5 );
printf( "%f, %f, %f, %f\r\n", val1, val2, val3, val4 );
will give you:
2.000000, -2.000000, 3.000000, -1.000000

I am trying to localize a Property Sheet Wizard for a Japanese version of the software. However when I do include Japanese resources, the wizard seems to retain the size of the English version of the dialogs. Both resources actually have the same size in dialog units, but the Japanese version uses a different font which causes it to be slightly wider. However it appears cutoff in the wizard.
Anybody seen this before and better yet know any fix for this?

I'm assuming you have a date expression to be converted as in:
"January 12, 2004".
I do not know of any direct method, but you could use the COleDateTime::ParseDateTime() member function to parse and validate your string expression. Then you could construct your CTime variable from that.

I already got it. The way i do is as following:
CTime m_Date;
int year,month,day;
CString str = m_Date.Format("%Y");
year = atoi(str);
str = itr->m_Date.Format("%m");
month = atoi(str);
str = itr->m_Date.Format("%d");
day = atoi(str);

We recently moved from VC++ 7.0 to 7.1 and now are getting these
strange warnings whenever we compile on a Windows 2000 machine
WINVER not defined. Defaulting to 0x0501 (Windows XP and Windows .NET Server)
This warning does not show up on Windows XP compiles.
Obviously it's the wrong answer since it should be 0x0500 for Windows 2000
right?

In Stdafx.h, define WINVER to a valid value.
While at it, define _WIN32_WINNT, _WIN32_WINDOWS and _WIN32_IE to the the values that reflect your target OS.
(And yes, 0x0500 is used for Windows 2000. For _WIN32_IE, decide what the minimal version of IE support you need--even if you don't use IE directly, you may use common controls which depended on IE for installation.)

Why i still have error msg :

Error executing cl.exe.
The above is part of the programme and the error msg..anyone can tell me why there is still error when the return 0 has ; after it already?

Remove the return 0; - it isn't needed (void functions don't return anything). It is also after the closing } so it is outside the function and therefore an error is generated.

LINK : fatal error LNK1181: cannot open input file "fltk.lib"
how should i go about solving this?

You had specified a "fltk.lib" library in the link options of the project settings. Its specified in
Project->Settings->Link tab-> object/library modules textbox.
But the compiler can't find the file. Its the problem. The solutions are.
1. If its an unnecessery library, remove it from the link options.
2. If its needed, then first find the location of the file using Windows File Search. Then take, Tools->Options->Directories tab, then add the path to the library path list.
Simple, Isn't it ?

As I used CreateProcess() to run chkdsk.exe under winxp, chkdsk quits straight away..
whereas using ShellExecute() kept it running ...
here's the code for createprocess();

You're specifying the STARTF_USESTDHANDLES flag, but not assigning a value to the hStdInput, hStdOutput, and hStdError members of the STARTUPINFO structure.

I have actually specified these...just didn't bother to post it..im sorry
I have assigned the handle of hWritePipe to hStdOutput and hStdError, and NULL to hStdInput.
What im trying to do is shell chkdsk.exe and retrieve the content in the console window and display it in an edit box..so im using pipes to read data from console..
