Search MSDN for 'Script Encoder'.

Isn't that just for JScript.NET or something???

I wonder if anyone can tell me whether the following is possible and if so provide some pointers to how to go about it.
I need an aspx page that will display thumbnails of all the files in a chosen folder. This folder can contain image files (jpg, gif), flash files (swf) or video files (mpeg, quicktime, avi). I would like to display the dimensions (width, height) of the file on the page and, for the flash and video files the length of the movie (in secs).
I know how to get the dimensions of the images however don't know how to get the information from flash and video files.

I am maintaining the time spent by a user in a session in database. In case if session expires automatically it should be the no. of minutes set for session timeout. How to update the database when session time out occurs. I am using state server mode for session. In ASP.Net session_end is not firing consistently.....Can any one provide me a solution?

What indication do you have that it is not firing the Session_End consistently?

I've run into a brick wall on this one. I teach a basic math class, one that includes fractions, and have been trying to develop a web-based app that allows me to do testing on the web. The concept is to include all of the question pool in a database, then select 40 -50 questions on the fly when a student starts a test session. The problem arises when I try to display a mixed number such as 2-2/3 in a format like the textbook uses. That is, the integer portion centered normally on the line, the numerator above and denominator below, with a horizontal line between them. Is there anything in CSS or HTML that will let me do this?
My only other alternative is to store scanned images in the database, and I don't like that alternative very much - the db is going to be huge.

Use codes such as the following. Try inserting the character you are after into a word doc and saving it as html. If you search on google you should be a able to find a comprehensive list...or maybe the w3 website seeing as they set most of the standards.
<br />
<br />
⅓<br />
⅔<br />
⅛<br />
<br />
⅓<br />
⅔<br />
⅛<br />
|
|
|
|
|
There is a very handy applet that ships with windows called Character Map (usually found under Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools) that will show all available characters in the different fonts. From this list, you will be able to pick characters that you need from various fonts.
In the Verdana Font: ⅛⅜⅝⅞¼½¾
In The Arial Font: ⅓⅔
onwards and upwards...
Also, you may want to look at the topic called HTML Character Sets in MSDN as they have the escapes for such things as math symbols, glyphs, etc. For example: ∑ ∞ ∩ ∪ ∫ ≠ ≈ ≤ ≥ ⊆ ⊇
are
∑ ∞ ∩ ∪ ∫ ≠ ≈ ≤ ≥ ⊆ ⊇

You might try looking at http://www.w3.org/Math/. Mozilla has support for MathML builtin.

you could also write up a quick control using System.Drawing to make images on the fly, then have your page class replace instances of your fractions with the approriate image

I've an application in which there is a form that insert data in some table. The problem is when i input some text having text with single quotes eg:- Don't, elicit error.
strsql="Insert into lead(" &_
"deal1,"&_
"agreementno1"&_
") values ("&_
"'"& x_deal1 &"',"&_
"'"& x_agreementno1 &"'"&_
");"
Set rs=objDataConn.Execute(strsql,,1)

Replace single quotes with two single quotes before passing.
eg:
<br />
Replace(x_deal1,"'","''")<br />
|
|
|
|
|
before insertting
x_deal1 = Replace(xdeal1, "'", "''")
x_agreementno1 = Replace(x_agreementno1, "'", "''")

I need some script to clear the values in controls in a table row and came up with the following. It seems a bit long winded and was just wondering if i'm being a plank? Any suggestions?? Easier way in javascript maybe??
<br />
Sub ClearTableRow(objForm,objRow,blnHide)<br />
For Each objCtrl in objForm<br />
If objRow.contains(objCtrl) Then <br />
Select Case objCtrl.type<br />
Case "text"<br />
objCtrl.value=""<br />
Case "textarea"<br />
objCtrl.value=""<br />
Case "select-one"<br />
objCtrl.selectedindex=0<br />
End Select<br />
End If<br />
If blnHide then<br />
objRow.style.display="none"<br />
End If<br />
Next<br />
End Sub<br />

On my site (see sig) I want to change the border of this inline frame I have on my website to something with rounded corners and do something with the scroll bar. I also want to change my navigation bar from the top under the banner to the side, so I would like some pointers on how to get that done and would fit for most resolutions (using whatever code). So if someone could maybe point me ni the right direction towards a web tutorial or whatever, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advanced.

This is pretty simple to do with a table, actually. Create a table in a 3x3 grid, put the corner images of the border in the corners of the grid, then set the background image of the edge cells to be the edge images of your border (to be expandable, the edge images will need to be repeatable).

One method is to just have a big table with the navbar in the left cell and the content in the right cell.
A more browser-friendly method (that doesn't abuse tables and renders incrementally) is to have the navbar be a floating div -- since you know the size of the banner image and the size of the navbar elements, you know the absolute pixel position of the upper-left corner of the div and the height and width. You can then set the left margin of the content to be as wide as the navbar.
That's just off the top of my head, so you may find some methods which are more comfortable.
There are lots of web communities to get basic layout and design tips; you may want to check out http://www.evolt.org/[^] for some good articles and tutorials.

Hi,
I did an autorun CD for my web application for easy installation. I have my MS Access database mdb file included as well. However when I did the autorun, the mdb file copied over from CD to PC had read access only. The web application therefore is unable to edit/delete/insert into the database.
How do I make the file updatable automatically without having to right click on it and modifying the properties manually?
Is there a command to change the access rights of the file in my .bat file?
Thanks!
Sincerely
