Hi,
Is there a tool out there that can detect unused ASP code in a web application?

The problem is that you need a ADO Recordset, before to set rs to cn.Execute you must create the objet, like this
set rs = server.createobject("adodb.recordset")

Your connection string isn't sufficient - try this:
strConnect= "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.4.0;Data Source=c:\inetpub\wwwroot\myprog\vbquiz.mdb"
strCmd="SELECT * FROM quiz"
Set cn=server.createobject("adodb.connection")
Set rs=Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
cn.Open strConnect
Set rs=cn.Execute strCmd
While Not rs.EOF
Response.Write rs("quizid") & "<BR>"
rs.MoveNext

hi
I have a page with two frames, the one frames loads the next with a document.form.sumbit() command. my problem is that I want the focus to be on the first frame, so that I can capture keypressed commands. At the moment I have to click on the first frame first.

My company has developed a commercial application making use of a client side JavaScript. We do not want the business logic contained in that script to be exposed.
Is there an easy way to obfuscate the script?
Are there any alternatives (unfortunately, we cannot use server side code)?
Thanks,
J

Search MSDN for 'Script Encoder'.

Isn't that just for JScript.NET or something???

I wonder if anyone can tell me whether the following is possible and if so provide some pointers to how to go about it.
I need an aspx page that will display thumbnails of all the files in a chosen folder. This folder can contain image files (jpg, gif), flash files (swf) or video files (mpeg, quicktime, avi). I would like to display the dimensions (width, height) of the file on the page and, for the flash and video files the length of the movie (in secs).
I know how to get the dimensions of the images however don't know how to get the information from flash and video files.

I am maintaining the time spent by a user in a session in database. In case if session expires automatically it should be the no. of minutes set for session timeout. How to update the database when session time out occurs. I am using state server mode for session. In ASP.Net session_end is not firing consistently.....Can any one provide me a solution?

What indication do you have that it is not firing the Session_End consistently?

I've run into a brick wall on this one. I teach a basic math class, one that includes fractions, and have been trying to develop a web-based app that allows me to do testing on the web. The concept is to include all of the question pool in a database, then select 40 -50 questions on the fly when a student starts a test session. The problem arises when I try to display a mixed number such as 2-2/3 in a format like the textbook uses. That is, the integer portion centered normally on the line, the numerator above and denominator below, with a horizontal line between them. Is there anything in CSS or HTML that will let me do this?
My only other alternative is to store scanned images in the database, and I don't like that alternative very much - the db is going to be huge.

Use codes such as the following. Try inserting the character you are after into a word doc and saving it as html. If you search on google you should be a able to find a comprehensive list...or maybe the w3 website seeing as they set most of the standards.
<br />
<br />
⅓<br />
⅔<br />
⅛<br />
<br />
⅓<br />
⅔<br />
⅛<br />
|
|
|
|
|
There is a very handy applet that ships with windows called Character Map (usually found under Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools) that will show all available characters in the different fonts. From this list, you will be able to pick characters that you need from various fonts.
In the Verdana Font: ⅛⅜⅝⅞¼½¾
In The Arial Font: ⅓⅔
onwards and upwards...
Also, you may want to look at the topic called HTML Character Sets in MSDN as they have the escapes for such things as math symbols, glyphs, etc. For example: ∑ ∞ ∩ ∪ ∫ ≠ ≈ ≤ ≥ ⊆ ⊇
are
∑ ∞ ∩ ∪ ∫ ≠ ≈ ≤ ≥ ⊆ ⊇

You might try looking at http://www.w3.org/Math/. Mozilla has support for MathML builtin.

you could also write up a quick control using System.Drawing to make images on the fly, then have your page class replace instances of your fractions with the approriate image
something like:
