Just a simple question,
how to display line number in
the Microsoft Visual C++ version 6.0?
thanks

There is no way in MSDEV, the IDE we use for VC++ 6.0 development - to display line numbers.
Alternatively there may be some plug-in written to extend the MSDEV environment, but I've not yet come across any yet.

I agree. Thankfully this was sorted in VS7, as well as improving the printing capabilities as well.

Line numbering can be enabled in VS7 / 7.1 from the options dialog->Text Editor.

Typical that it took a whole version change to fix it. A folding editor would be nice too. I wonder how long we'll have to wait for that?

I thought the line number where the cursor is currently located is displayed in the lower right corner of the status pane? I always look down there when I am scrolling around in the file. Mine shows "Ln 23, Col 34" for example to the left of the REC|COL|OVR|READ status pane area.

Yeap I know that
But you have to look down though
What I want is the line numbering on the left
side of the editor -- which should be
a standard feature on a programming editor.
But as it was said, the smart engineers took a major version upgrade to add that feature.

Okay, now I get it.
I suppose I have been using a brain-dead IDE like Visual Studio for so long, I don't even know what a nice editor must be like....

Pls tellme in what contains in this folder.
KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates
As observed by me.......
In this folder I am able to see 3 folders
DatatAccess
Windows 2000
Windows Media player
Under Windows 2000 -I have 2 sub folders
SP4
SP5
Under SP4 I have one folder
Under SP5 I have many folders which starts with KB.
Under this interesting I see FileList folder and click to see there are many folders which starts from 0 - 1 or sometimes up to 10.
When I clicked each one of these folders I see .dll as a file name.
I want to know the following things.
What is a file list
What are the subfolders under it.
Why are they numbered.
Can any expert throw light on this as I am confused with this?
Regards
KP

Which is the list of files that are part of that KB article. For example, KB823980 is about buffer overrun in RPC. The files updated for this are ole32.dll, rpcrt4.dll, and rpcss.dll, which are listed under the FileList key.

Either create a CButton object using the BS_BITMAP style, or derive your own class from CButton and do the drawing yourself. The latter solution could for example make use of the IPicture interface to actually display the image.

but how can you do it in a win32 api if you have a dialog box as a resource.
is there another way of doing it without having a class.
with loading a bitmap and then placing it ?

As you surely know you create a button using CreateWindow , specifying BUTTON as class name. Also here you can specify BS_BITMAP as a window style, and then use BM_SETIMAGE to place an image on the button.

I found that using an Icon on a button worked better than a bitmap (but the process is very similar.)
I used the examples in the MSDN library (VC6 version) The SDK-level code I used is something like this:
hwndMyButton = CreateWindow("button", "",<br />
WS_CHILD | WS_VISIBLE | BS_ICON | BS_PUSHBUTTON,<br />
buttonPosX, buttonPosY, ButtonWidth, ButtonHeight,<br />
hwnd, (HMENU)ID_ButtonID, hAppInst, NULL);<br />
<br />
hButtonIcon = LoadIcon(hAppInst, MAKEINTRESOURCE(IDI_ButtonIcon));<br />
<br />
SendMessage(hwndMyButton, BM_SETIMAGE, (WPARAM)IMAGE_ICON,<br />
(LPARAM)(HANDLE)hButtonIcon);
I later changed to using a toolbar, because that looks more modern than Icons or Bitmaps on buttons!

HI.

plz tell me proper way
thanx

OK,
You right click on Resource, and then chose insert, chose Bitmap.
IT's ok, if the bitmap is creater than 256 colors, it will not view on Editor, but when you run your app, and load your bitmap, you will see normally.

I should imagine the atoi function is what you are after. The prototype for the function is
int atoi(const char *nptr);
There may well be some better way of doing this but I don't know it if there is.
