You could use the Data Report Designer.
If you use the Data Environment Designer to set up the data source, you can use the Report Designer to lay out the design of the report.
You would need the Add Data Report to appear on the Project menu. If it doesn't, do the following...
Open Components dialog box, click Designers tab, select Data Report.
Once you add the Data Report to your project, all you have to do is set its properties.
I hope this helps.

I have tried ever thing under the sun and the moon and I don't get I am trying to write a code that counts the number charcters, number of words, number of sentences, and number paragrahgs contained in a string.
|
|
|
|
|
Huh?
Guess not understood your problem exactly, but:
using Len() function, you can find out number of characters inside a string. counting number of dots (.) you can find the number of sentences. counting the number of enters (chr(13)) you can find number of paragraphs.
(just there should be some verifications to see for example if a dot (.) is a dot in a number (2.34) or not or some other things. and it is easy to check)
I dunno if I have answered your question or not!

I’m having a hard time manipulating a string...
How can I remove everything to the left of a given string in a string?
Example:
‘This is my main string. It is always different’.
I want to trim everything to the left of ‘string.’ Including ‘string.’ So that my new string reads:
‘It is always different.’
The word ‘string.’ will always be part of the string.
Thanks
Brad

Hey
You can use this
Dim i As String = "This is my main string. It is always different"
Dim a() As String
a = i.Split("string.")
a(0) = "This is my main"
a(1) = "It is always different"
The string you then need is a(1)
Have a look at this[^] article
Hope this helps

Hi Chris.
I actually tried that but instead of splitting the string at 'string.' it splits it every time it finds one of the letters in 'string.' I thought it was a simple concept until I started trying to use 'split' to make it work.
Thanks.

I have the following code, but I cannot seem to get the changes in the dataset to be commited to the database. All I get is a 0 rowcount:
Private editQry As String = "select idc,nomiko,Eponymo,Onoma,Tel from Persons where idc=1"
Private adoCEDataAdapter As SqlCeDataAdapter
Private CustEditDataSet As DataSet
Private cb As SqlCeCommandBuilder
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click
Me.Close()
End Sub
Private Sub frmCustEdit_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
adoCEDataAdapter = New SqlCeDataAdapter(editQry, frmConnect.adocon)
cb = New SqlCeCommandBuilder(adoCEDataAdapter)
CustEditDataSet = New DataSet
adoCEDataAdapter.Fill(CustEditDataSet)
txtSurname.DataBindings.Add(New Binding("Text", CustEditDataSet.Tables(0), "Eponymo"))
txtName.DataBindings.Add(New Binding("Text", CustEditDataSet.Tables(0), "Onoma"))
txtTel.DataBindings.Add(New Binding("Text", CustEditDataSet.Tables(0), "Tel"))
cbLegal.DataBindings.Add(New Binding("SelectedIndex", CustEditDataSet.Tables(0), "nomiko"))
End Sub
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
MsgBox(adoCEDataAdapter.Update(CustEditDataSet).ToString())
Me.Close()
End Sub
I have tried to create the Update query with:
adoCEDataAdapter.UpdateCommand=cb.GetUpdateCommand
and it returns a query, but again nothing happens on the adoCEDataAdapter.Update(CustEditDataSet)
Help....

Hi,
Is there a way to run a program when a cd is put in the drive using either vb 6 or vb.net. I am not looking to autorun the cd.
|
|
|
|
|
This is something that is on my “To Do” list also. I want to make a CD Autorun an html file that is located on the CD but I haven’t had time to look into it yet.
The first thing that I was going to do was check to see if I could make an AutoRun.ini file that points to my html file. Maybe this same concept will work if you direct the AutoRun.ini to your programs exe file.

Hi,
Actually what I want to do is a little different. I have cds that are already made and I want a windows based program to run when a cd is inserted into the drive. I cannot put anything else on to the cd. I need to start a program of my own. Its a bit like when you put a cd in when using Windows XP. A window is displayed asking you what you want to do ie play it or do nothing. Except I will be running the program under windows nt and windows 2000. Hope I've made scense

Hmmm....now I understand exactly what you want to do but I’m not sure how to make it happen.
There are some very intelligent people in this User Group. Hopefully someone will have an answer for you.
If I find any useful information while I’m trying to figure out how to AuotRun my html I'll let you know.

Hi, trying to send a defined type on the serial port, to do that I need to access the bytes for each value in that type.
Lets say I want to send a variable of this type as binary/byte data:
Type test
v1 As Single
v2 As Single
v3 As Long
v4(4) As Single
End Type
How do I get the individual bytes to send, in total 28 bytes in the example abow? Is there a whay to convert this type and others to byte arrays?
And then when recieveing, lets say a single float in binary as 4 bytes on the serial port, how can I transforme that 4 byte array to a single value in visual basic?

Is there any built in function in "VB Script" or user code to extract substring from a line where each substring is separated by a delimeter like coma (",").
eg: str="subOne,subTwo,subThree"
im looking for a function like this XXX(str,2) should return "subTwo".
Please note i wanted to do this in VB Script
And also I dont want to use Split() function since i wanna this in visual test 4.0 and Split() is not available there.
Thanks in advance.
|
|
|
|
|
No, there is no function like you describe. If you can't use Split (the common solution to what you want), then you'll have to write the function yourself and either return all of the substrings in an array of strings or return just the one you want. It's up to you how you write it...

you need to find your first delimiter's index
make a new substring using the aboves delimeter's index + 1,
search the new string for your next delimiter
then repeat as much as needed
