If you are an experienced developer, you can fix those library issue in seconds.
For Unicode, some application don't care unicode and still use us-ascii only. Actually, unicode doubled data memory usage and disk space. You may keep your application for both, but in case of time, unicode is not a must-have key feature in MFC world. Sure, it's my openion only.

Are you sure the speed of computer industry is proper? Are you sure the software you released is a bug free one?

Unicode and linker setting are just 2 examples of my point of view on Open-Source project, at least most of them. The original dev got the credit and who makes the patch/fix does not... So people just do not fix their problems.
Today, I download the memcached Win32 port, the solution is VS8.0 but it never compiles on my box, implicit-cast error, wrong header file, etc ... So I still says they are far from perfect.

WinSCP is written with Borland C++ Builder it does not use MFC or VC++.
BTW, tortoisecvs uses wxWidgets (not MFC) and VFC is a framework that can be compiled with VC++ just like Gcc is used to compile it in linux and Mac OSX.

Also new Filezilla 3 has moved to wxWidgets.
But winscp definitely should not be listed here!

Even if we don't participate in those open source project, we can learn MFC from them.
I really like to know more open source projects in which MFC is heavily used.

This solution helped me:
- start Internet Explorer
- Tools, Manage Add-ons
- Show: Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer
- then enable WizCombo Class, which is an ActiveX control
that's all

Yes, These projects on SourceForge are very mature and are very well designed. They have helped me greatly in developing quality software.Specially the projects like 7-Zip,eMule, FileZilla,KeePass Password Safe , Shareaza , TortoiseSVN, WinMerge are already recognised as some of the most popular freeware applications .

Kindly suggest some more open source project in VC++/MFC. So that I can update this list.

Well I don't know if it's the "best", but I'm reasonably confident it's interesting:
Visual Component Framework[^]
Of course I'm also somewhat biased, since I wrote it
¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire!
Real Mentats use only 100% pure, unfooled around with Sapho Juice(tm)!
SELECT * FROM User WHERE Clue > 0
0 rows returned

Perl (the language). The Windows port (using Visual C++) by ActiveState was originally sponsored by Microsoft and included in the NT Resource Kit, but is now simply included in the standard open source perl distribution.
http://wtl.sourceforge.net/
WTL (see also several articles here on codeproject), the class library that makes ATL so much better. Written by members of the Visual C++ team, but no longer officially supported (although still maintained on a volunteer basis).
http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Download_Mozilla_Source_Code
Firefox, Thunderbird and Mozilla! The Windows version of these popular open source applications is written in Visual C++. Firefox 1.5 in Visual C++ 6, Firefox 2 in Visual C++ 2003, Firefox 3 in Visual C++ 2005 .
Old Win32 SDKs (pre-1996) included source code for several SDK and Windows components no longer provided by Microsoft in source form. No download, just dig up your old CDs. These are not true open source however, standard Microsoft "sample code" licensing only.
P.S.
Your current list contains several duplicates, i.e. closely related forks of the same projects listed as if they were their own entries. For these, put several URL's in one entry for clarity and less clutter.
This message is hasty and is not to be taken as serious, professional or legally binding.
I work with low level C/C++ in user and kernel mode, but also dabble in other areas.

I will update the article with the link suggested. i willl also remove the duplicate links (I think you wants to point out different emule derivatives)

Actually this is only my personal view that these are best VC++/MFC project available on sourceforce. In between you are right article should be titled some of the best open source projects.

Sudhir Mangla wrote: article should be titled some of the best open source projects.
But that would only imply the list is possibly incomplete, and wouldn't address the OP's claim that the term "best" is subjective and likely the opinion of only one person (i.e. you). To appease everyone, I recommend renaming the article to "Some of the best (imho) VC++/MFC open source projects".
OK, I'll shut up now.
(Btw, you got my 5).

I'm not sure it matters whose opinion it's based on.
This post is worth it just because it exposes a whole slew of other well-known apps that expose their source code.
Very useful.
