Try building ConsoleCtrl, that seems to be the class that handles encapsulating the Console in a UserControl.

If I put a MessageBox inside the button handler of the toolbar, the handler will be called only the first time a button is clicked. Further clicks do not call the handler anymore - why?
Refer to modul CommandBarObj.cs
void toolBar_ButtonClick(object sender, ToolBarButtonClickEventArgs e)
{
System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show("hallo");
...
ToolBarButton b = e.Button;
if( b == toolBarButtonSync )
{
...

I absolutely love this application.
Unfortunately, closing explorer crashed my desktop forcing a reboot. I freaked and unistalled this app because I can't afford to reinstall my OS at this time. I tried saving the error messages but the info I got was useless...I do recall that the exception refernced some sort of interop problem.
I would love to use this application if this type of crash could be avoided...any ideas?
thanks

I have not tried it on win 2K. On Win XP with sp 2 installed I have no problems. From the errors you are describing it sounds like it may be something to do with the version of your .NET framework installed on the machines or something.

I am having this same issue on XP sp2. I use ctrl+m to launch window, but when I close the explorer window windows explorer crashes. Oddly this does not seem to happen when I do it from IE.

I am running W2k SP4 and it is working fine for me.

Just have to say... I absolutely LOVE this little tool!!!!! Great Job! :two-thumbsup:
There was one little annoyance that bothered me though.
the /Ctrl+M/ tag in the menu.
I solved this!
**** WARNING ****
I am not responsible for any damage or corrupted Registry files.
Run regedit...
Find "/Ctrl+M/"
It should be in this key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{8689A69C-CC9D-3AEC-9D7C-E7F409700C15}
The default value should read:
'Command Prompt /Ctrl+M/'
Ok edit this and take the last '/' off... It should read like this now:
'Command Prompt /Ctrl+M'
Ok now... Right click the default key and edit the binary data. Change the 2F (ie '/') to a 09 (ie TAB).
Repeat these steps for the MenuText string Tag.
The changes probably wont take effect until you refresh your explored bar cache or reboot.
But now the Ctrl+M short cut key will appear in the right column in the View|explorer bar menu, just like History 'Ctrl+H', Search 'Ctrl+E', and Favorites 'Ctrl+I'

Hi,
do you have any problems with service packs on WinXP or Win2000 Professional, i have a litle problems with this tool?!

I run it on WinXP with service pack 2 installed, the only glitches I have seen is in the special folders.
For example:
When in the control panel or on a web page and pressing Ctrl+M it comes up but it can't change to the directory and the command fails dropping to command prompt in current OS folder.
With this error: "The syntax of the command is incorrect."
Perhaps an error trap is in order or some way to disable when in special folders or IE?
Sorry I have not tried it on win2000.

I love this app, and it's a shame that it crashes on SP2. Apparently it's fine on some people's PCs, but it seems to be an issue, so let's try to figure it out.
Here's the exception I get:
<br />

at System.Windows.Forms.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)<br />

I'm guessing it's due to SP2's new memory security, but I'm not exactly sure of what exactly is going on. I downloaded the source, so I'm going to play around with it for a while and post again if I figure anything out. Anyone want to help?

Hello,
I noticed part of the problem is if your Explorer windows is bigger then the max width for a DOS window you get the Null Reference Exception. This should be a fairly simple fix.
The second problem is if you close the Explorer window while the command prompt is still open it crashes.
I was looking to make a similar application until I came across this one. If no one fixes the bugs I may just have to post a fix myself.
I am running on Windows XP Pro SP2

Ken Brown
