Well, then that can be another way to get them to follow the forum rules.

I did not think of that, that is a very excellent point. As someone said below, it could exclude items in code or pre blocks, and we could report posts abusing that as, well, abuse

This thread[^] is a prime example of why this text-speak crap should be battled

That'd be nice to do something about the text speak

Is it really that hard to
a) Hit the abuse button
b) Ignore the post?
If you wish others to act in a mature fashion we must all do the same.
Also: I would have thought that of all members, Vasudevan, you would have caught on that Swarup was way, way before Kyle's time.

True. But actually if you had observed the way the messages went astray on Monday morning, it was so disgusting and hence I thought I would alert CP Team. Slowly after an hour, the original message faded out due to a high number of votes on it.

The way the member went astray the other day, actually drove to doubt one.

Just got hit by this again a few minutes ago. Since the last time I posted something it's happened an average of once or twice a day. Are you really having to kick the servers that often?
Otherwise [Microsoft is] toast in the long term no matter how much money they've got. They would be already if the Linux community didn't have it's head so firmly up it's own command line buffer that it looks like taking 15 years to find the desktop.

So it turns out one of our database servers is having a real issue. One of our guys talked to Microsoft about it and we've been told to reduce the amount of memory we have in our database server. Evidently there is a known problem (that we didn't know about) that we're trying to get to the bottom of

whatever you did to the DB server isn't helping. I'm not certain, but it appears to be happening every time I navigate from one lounge page to a second. I haven't tested from a lounge page to a non lounge page, or between two pages on any of the other boards.

Can we have an option to filter out fat_boy on the soapbox? There are plenty of others who it'd be nice to filter too but no one else is quite so ... prolific ...
It's getting to the point no where even if I try to read the post my eyes lose focus and all I see is "blah blah blah blah global warming blah blah blah some place is cold!"

A section of soapbox can be classified as 'GWRC' or GWEC'.
GWRC: Global Warming Research Center
GWEC: Global Warming Excellency Center

This is why I never go to the soapbox. It's my own fat_boy filter.

When a new member first attempts to post in the Lounge, display a page with "No programming questions in the Lounge" and nothing else. The member will have to click OK to get past that page.

What is the reason that only most, but not all, of the forums contain the three-column list of all forums at the top? I'm cruising along jumping between forums with clicks on the displayed page and then ... bam ... I have to use the menu up in the green bar to show "All forums" and then click on the desired forum.
